Greetings everyone,
I mentioned in a prior thread that I believe Tara and Kuan Yin are the same manifestations of the Divine Mother. In fact, Tara is often regarded as the shakti or power of Avalokitesvara who shelters her devotees from all dangers of samsara.
What's amazing is that Tara was well known and worshiped throughout the ancient world!
Ireland
The druids in ancient Ireland/Britain worshiped Tara as their mother goddess. The famous "Hill of Tara" bears the goddess' name.
Rome
The Romans worshiped Terra, the Mother of the Earth.
Finland
Story of Women of Wisdom known as Tar.
Babylonian
Worshiped goddess of fertility, love and war known as Ishtar
China
Worshiped as Kuan Yin
India
Worshiped as Tara, which means "star" in Sanskrit
Cheyenne Native Americans
Story of a star-woman falling to Earth to mate with the population to increase wisdom among the human race.
Incredible.
Best wishes,
Stephen
