I'm asking a perfectly sensible question, western logic suggests 1 day rest between sessions. 'kung fu' suggests constant daily practise. western logic would suggest that constant daily training would have a negative effect on your results. debate.

your forum-celebrity attitude has a negative and detrimental effect on genuine and honest people with genuine and honest interest in being introduced to shaolin and its arts, I've watched you throw your weight around a few times already, like you're someone special and better than everyone else - presumably you've spent more on seminars - you seem to take a certain pleasure in dismissive and humiliating messages and stating how little others know. if you're such a sucker for authority, join the police force. if they'd let you.

Jonnno is right sifu anthony I think you should learn to control your'e anger your no master in martial art's with your attitude and with less than 10 or 20 year's of training you are no master you might be the chief but that's just a rank your'e just commiting to losing the shaolin tradition you have even broken the eighth law you should come back to the forum when you learn to control yourself.

8.Forbidden to abuse power, be it official or physical; forbidden to oppress the good and bully the kind.

Hello Steve. Long time no hear

Jonno, correct me if I am wrong, but you have learnt from Grandmaster Wong before, right? I am not sure and will need to check on your status, but that should make you a Shaolin Wahnam student. Maybe no one has ever told you about basic manners in a traditional Shaolin school, but please go and find out before you make more boo boos. If you are asking for advice, not everyone has to be deferential to you.

Forget about a Shaolin school - have you ever worked in the real world before? Do you expect everyone who gives you good advice to be all warm and fuzzy, cuddly and touchy-feely with you? You may think this is "empty, provocative and insensitive" but it is true that your attitude is setting you up for a big fall. Anthony Sifu could have simply ignored your query and told you to do whatever you wanted, and a few months or years later, you would be paying the price for your obstinate attitude. So, as Matt said, he is being kind. You can choose not to believe it, but don't come whining about your choice later on.

Shao (Steven). You are what, 19 years old? Other instructors and students have been giving you invaluable advice. In this thread, you just called the Chief Instructor of Shaolin Wahnam in the United States a jerk in public. If you are even in the least interested in learning from Shaolin Wahnam instructors, that is probably the dumbest thing you could have done. I would like to excuse your behaviour due to your youth but I don't think that is fair to many mature teenagers I know. Even if you are not interested in learning from Shaolin Wahnam, your behaviour is quite deplorable. Think about it. If you can learn some humility when you are young, it will benefit you greatly in life.

Isn't it interesting how some people read anger and insult in my words, while others read compassion, experience, and kindness?

Those of you who know me, both in person and through the forum, know that I am a bloodhound for sniffing out bad attitudes. And guess where I got this skill? From my sifu, who has an uncanny ability to sense attitude problems both in person and online.

I've taught over 2000 people. I've seen it all. Matt (drop360) was correct. Jonno, in another thread, demonstrated a tendency to create blockages even with Lifting The Sky! With his warped understanding of the horse stance, he's just setting himself up for disaster.

I've seen this many times. I can smell the trouble that both Jonno and Shao are getting themselves into. In my experience, it's not a coincidence when blockages and bad attitudes go together.

Dear Zhang Wuji my behavior in life is actually good and almost everyone I meet like's me so don't judge me about how I acted on the forum I was just very insulted about what sifu anthony said in his private message's, I plan on learning from a Shaolin Wahnam instructor but not if I'm going to be treated as bad as I was.

            Dear Shao,

If you plan it, it could be all for nothing if you don't realize very very soon that you're ruining your chance. I'm actually a little surprised you haven't been banned from the school yet. I can only assume it is because you are being given a pass for being young and you don't see what you're doing. You are insulting one of the most respected instructors in our school in our virtual kwoon.

Respect is probably the number one virtue one can have as a Wahnam student. Without it you simply can't learn.

            All the Best,
            Alex

AlexBaranosky I know what i'm doing but someone has to say something.

Sifu anthony you do not alway's have respect in your message's I don't know anything about you so I can't say everything I said about you is true the same for what you said to me, and jonno was simply asking for the correct training method there is no need to tell him to join your school to learn it even if his response wasn't the most honorable reply.

Jonno if you don't like sifu anthony's advice and continue to insult him for just a two line response you need to learn to control your anger, he was just recommending that you learn from a certified instructor so you don't harm yourself with your training method's for your own safety not insulting you. Learn to take people's advice like matts sifu charles and sifu anthony's and many other's and learn from it instead of taking it as a insult these comment's are rude and direspectful and will not be tolerated here in this forum so you can either apolagize to sifu anthony or continue to insult other's and learn nothing.

                        Hi Wuji,
I was in your part of the woods about 2 weeks ago. Spent some time in Bali and a day in Singapore. Different worlds, both great

If you dont mind my asking, how long are you able to hold golden bridge for? (bit of a primitive question I know)
When I attempted horse stance many years ago, it was really horrible. The pain to just hold 2 minutes was terrible. Reason was I was doing it wrong.

To answer your question; Now I find the leg discomfort issue not an issue at all. I do 5 minutes a day. Used to do 7 days a week. Now I do 4 days a week, because of early morning cross training classes. I have done 20, 30 minutes at times, sometimes longer, as the exercise has unfolded. The focus is on building internal force, not leg endurance.

To not go into detail. Don't isolate muscle groups ie don't think you're holding yourself up with your quads.

You have to keep a flow/connection through your legs ie your legs mustn't cut off energy at the joints. To keep the flow you need to relax ie relax, sit and enjoy
