Excellent thread Jamie! Great photos and descriptions. Are you gonna post the videos anywhere??

Thank you for the explanation, Sifu Jamie. I can see exactly what you're talking about in terms of applications that are in line with our principles.

Also, thank you sunwukong. While I am obviously not very familiar with muay thai, it sounds like you trained the pattern with good principles in mind.

          Hello,

The media section of the Scotland website is currently being worked on.
I will put the videos on that, then provide a link from this thread.
It may be a while, as i'm very busy at the moment with other tasks.

The 2nd series of counters will begin shortly.

          Thanks

hello eveyone, I would like to say I greatly appreciate the help that has been contributed so far. This thread and the video on Sifu Anthony Korahais' youtube channel "36 techniques set" has inspired me to make a specialized set dealing with the tricky techniques of a muay thai exponent, As soon as I am able to post the pictures, I hope you can all offer me constructive criticism as to how it can be improved.

              Series 2 - Advanced Patterns

The picture series of 'Shaolin Counters to Muay Thai Attacks' continues with more 'advanced' patterns.
These patterns are softer with smaller movements and often target deadly vital points.

Defence Pattern - 'Bail Moon From Sea Bottom'
Application - Float the hook kick, while attacking the groin
Principle - 'Avoid the strong points of the opponent; attack his weak points'

The 3rd and final series will answer the question -
'How would a fragile-looking lady counter these Muay Thai attacks?'
Have fun in thinking of various possible counters while enjoying this 2nd series.

Defence Pattern - 'Reverse Hand Steals Peach'
Application - Stepping off 45 degrees while attacking the groin
Principle - 'They are strong, enter from the sides. They are weak, enter from the front'

Defence Pattern - 'Double Butterflies Flying'
Application - Drag-step forward to intercept, attacking groin and face/chest
Principle - 'Move last, arrive first'

Defence Pattern - 'Green Dragon Shoots Pearl'
Application - Lean back your body to avoid the kick, then brush away his kicking leg with your right hand, gliding forward at the same time, and strike his back with your left palm. You could also tear the sexual organs after, if the situation dictates...

Defence Pattern - 'Hang A Golden Star'
Application - As the opponent jumps up and strike you with his knees using, move one leg back in a Bow-Arrow Stance and simultaneously grip his left hand with your left hand, and strike his left ribs with your right horn punch.
(My foot-work is in transition in the 3rd picture, that's why my stance is high.)

3rd Series - How would a fragile-looking lady counter such attacks?

Now we come to the interesting third series where even a fragile-looking lady can counter these ferocious Muay Thai attacks.

                            Defence Pattern
                            - 'Naughty Monkey Kicks Tree'
Application - As the opponent attacks with a 'Reverse Hanging of Golden Hook', following his sweeping momentum, move your left leg to the north or north-east and simultaneously execute a whirlwind kick using your instep as striking point at his groin.

Defence Pattern -'Double Bows Tames Tiger'
Application - As the opponent attacks with 'Rhinoceros Charges at Door', move your right leg to north or north-east and simultaneously strike your left fist onto his face (while holding your right fist above your right temple) using the pattern 'Double Bow Tames Tiger'.
(In these pictures, I do the patterns in the opposite mode.)

Defence Pattern - 'Golden Leopard Charges At Fire'
Application - An excellent counter against 'Thai Mountain on Head' is 'Golden Leopard Charges at Fire'. As the opponent jumps up and then down to strike on your head, move your front leg (left or right) to south-east and strike a left leopard fist at his ribs while he is still in the air.
