For anyone that cares i Study Black Tiger Style Kung fu.

I've also studied Bak Sil Lum,Cheung Kune Pai,and a little Choy Lay Fut,Hung Gar,Tai Chi,and Chi Gong.

My heart is in Black Tiger it's the style that fits me to a " T "

I am interested to know what force training methods you use in your Black Tiger training, and what the basic forms are.

Hey Dan,

Well in Black Tiger we still use the old school training methods because we believe they are the best.We still use trees to bang our shins and arms on along with several Black Tiger Dummies made from Wood,Concrete ,and Iron.We still use the 108 Plumbblossom Dummy.We spar without any gear or padding ,and train forms from a combat application point of view.There are no flashy tournament forms in Black Tiger.I'm not taking anything away from tournament forms i love tournaments myself.But all our techniques are broken down to combat application.

The first three Black Tiger forms revolve around the Black Tiger Jhoong(Dummy).In which there is alot of stance work drilled.You don't learn any forms until you can hold a proper rooted Ma Bo for at least 1 hour.Then you don't learn another until you have mastered the form.My sifu is very strick ,but one of the best ppl you will ever meet.He's just very serious about Black Tiger training.In the first three forms are alot of hand and fist techniques from the 5 animal systems Snake,Dragon,Crane,Tiger,Leopard.

After the first three forms we have a Chin Na form that was created by Grandmaster Wong Cheung.Then you learn Night Tiger which is a Longrange form similar to Choy Lay Fut and Bak Sil Lum.We have over 80 empty hand forms alone in Black Tiger.Then we have 18 classical weapons of Shaolin and some others found in Black Tiger.

3.Chopsticks and Bowl

When I studied Fu Jow Pai with Grandmaster Wai Hong and his senior disciple, Sifu Hui Cambrelen in NYC, we learned a method for developing the Tiger Claw which used a short stick cut to the lengthj of your forearm. Sitting in horse stance, we would grip and twist the stick in various ways. I didn't practice this method for very long, but the results were obvious in Grandmaster Wai Hong and Sifu Hui. Both of these men had formidable Tiger Claws.

Have you heard of this method?

I can't really say i have heard of that method.

I have heard alot about Grandmaster Wai Hong from my sifu.They are good friends from when my sifu first came to the U.S.Infact my sifu did a demo for Wai Hong back in the 70"s.It's the only demo that my sifu has ever agreed to do in the U.S.My sifu still has all the pictures and some of the banners form the demo.They say come witness the Famous Black Tiger style from China.

We use many different techniques to work on our claws.We still use the jar methods and also clawing on a round post about 8"-10" wide and 8-10 ft long.
