Do you know George W.Bush is a member of The Skull & Bones?
Dear Dr. Loo,
I am sorry but I don't know what "the skull and bones" is.
Also, in the letter that you posted, the seven stars sounded like the Northern Dipper to me (bei dou) which governs the heavenly constellation and is also related to death I think.
I look forward to hearing more.
Best,

Dear Ray,
The Skull and Bones is a secret society at Yale. It is the 10th most powerful organisation in the world. George W. Bush is a member and so is John Kerry.
No, It should read as "seven stars under the sign of three stars". I shall talk about it later. Kind of interesting. It has something to do with "The Forbidden City" and I discovered this during my recent trip to Beijing.
Just a quick note (slightly off topic) to inform those who have been following this thread that it is now in the Miscellaneous Discussions section of the Forum rather than the Buddhism section.
This move was made a the request of a member who considered it a waste of time reading. The move was made with Dr. Loo's approval (as thread starter).

With all due respect to this person whether it is in the Buddhim section or the Misc section they only need ignore any thread they are not interested in. Sounds like it upset them more than anything.

PS - We can afford to talk a bit "off topic" as from now to make this thread more entertaining and interesting since the thread has found a new "home" under this Section and not under Buddhism Section.
This thread has been all over the place, so I think a little follow up to the hoopla is in order.
That list of the top 10 secret societies left out the Turtles. Shameful. It also forgot to say which clubs still paddle each other, require goldfish swallowing, or exclude based on race. Which one of the previous three items is not a joke? No point in having a club, much less a secret society, if you're going to let just anyone join.
Why do the Freemasons in the Southern USA still require birth certificates from applicants instead of just ID cards, drivers licenses, or passports? Because they have a long history of forbidding mulattoes, or those of mixed white and black blood, from joining. While a black man can be discernible to the naked eye, various US regulations define someone as a mulattoe, and subject to ownership prior to 1863/65, if they were even 1/32nd black. [See Mark Twain's excellent satire on slavery, Puddin'head Wilson.] A study of birth certificates is needed to make this determination since visual clues are not very obvious when someone is only 1/32nd black.
Slavery and racism in the southern USA prevented blacks and mulattoes from joining the Freemasons before and after the US Civil War, so the blacks and mulattoes joined the Prince Hall Freemasons, which allowed blacks. The last time I checked in Texas, which was 1993, the Freemasons still required birth certificates and still prohibited their membership from associating (in the absolute, broadest possible sense of the word) with any members of the Prince Hall Lodge. They will say it's because they don't recognize the legitimacy of Prince Hall, but the real reasons are as obvious as black and white.
If anyone is in awe of the various secret societies that exist in the world, at least a cursory look at their recent history and current attitudes should be given before becoming spellbound by how "powerful" they are.

Thanks for telling me that some are offended by that word. I was completely unaware of it, and my apologies to any forum member who may have been affected directly or indirectly by my choice of words. That is simply the word used back then and now in the places where I come from.
