  • Advanced I Ching

When I was told by my Sifu that Sun Lu Tang used the I Ching to correctly predict his day and time of death, it struck me as to how simple yet profound this world can sometimes be.

So, during spare time when I was bored, I did a search on the internet about some advanced I Ching techniques and stumbled across this:
http://www.superiching.com/ , written none other than by Alex Chiu, the guy who invented an "immortality device" for humans to live up to 200 years.

This therefore lead me to question the authenticity of these methods. Anyone care to comment? Thanks in advanced.

    Best wishes,
    Stephen

At the bottom of the first page,

If you would like to write your own I-Ching book after you have mastered I-Ching

... not forgetting the dubious morality of ...

My neighbor broke up with his girl friend. I asked him why did they break up, and he told me that this is a personal matter so he couldn't tell me. So I said, "You won't tell me? Okay, I shall throw the coins and find out!"

      Haha, thanks Darryl.

      Here's an interesting link:

To tell you the truth, Tui Bei Tu Prophecy/Poem #56 scares me:

"Flyers are not birds, swimmers are not fish,
A war does not depend on soldiers. It's a game of technology.
Millions of miles of deadly smoke, on top a mushroom and at bottom a fountain.
A sight out of people's imagination. Big trouble not solved, but greater trouble arrives."

Apparently, Alex Chiu's method is a Na Jia method of I Ching, aimed exclusively for fortune telling. There are two other books in circulation concerning this method (in English translation), and apparently, according to Sinologist Harmen Mesker, Alex Chiu provides the best translation/methodology.

          I-Ching

Stephen, I know one man with whom I discussed about four years ago and he gave a warning regarding I-Ching. I tried to ask about why it is so "bad book" and he told from his own experience something that people who associate with I-Ching start to use it in everything... asking everything from the book. It is not good for sanity. Personally I have no interest in it. In a way it would be very scary if it works, and I seriously believe that playing with it can be addictive with "unpredictable" results.

Also questions arise: Where does the information of I-Ching come, who is the authority behind it? Why is the authority giving the information? Is it free information? If not, what is the cost? What if I find out something negative? Can I cope with such negative information enough well, without losing my sleep? Is it all worth it? Probably no, and that's why I don't play with the book and suggest the reader of this to contemplate above questions too.
          Best wishes,
          Panu

            Friends,
There is nothing wrong with consulting the I Ching if you do it responsibly otherwise consulting it too much will drain your energies and throw you off balance. Unfortunately people who overconsult / depend on it are generally the type of people who would go out of their way to consult it in the first place.
I am vaguely familiar with the prophecies and something I wish to explain on the forum is that there is high probability that some of them were added later or are not authentic.
Please think of the I Ching as a "mirror" of sorts with some commentary and advice I hope that this will clarify where "the power" or "knowledge" comes from.
