  • Mental Kung fu Practice

    Hi all,

Nowadays, as I am in college, it is hard to find the right time and the right place to practice my Xingyiquan. I was wondering, since I know the basic patterns and applications pretty well, can I mentally practice the set and combat applications?

    Best wishes,
    Stephen

    Hi Stephen ,

I sometimes do just that . If there is something I want to correct in my forms , I found that it helped me to sometimes fix the mistake in my mind and , when I did it for real it was much easier to fix up . For example , I have a tendency to want to raise my back heel when I have shot forward from a False Leg Stance into a Bow Arrow . As far as I know this means I am putting too much weight forward on the bow arrow , and not rooting enough , so in my head I imagine centering my weight and rooting my stance . I find it is helping a lot .

    Best Wishes ,
    Kevin

Thanks Kevin! I'm beginning to do more and more of my forms in meditation or in my sleep now. I think it's improving me as well.

          Hi Jeffrey,

I still do train, but much less now

Come to think of it, I'll try and borrow my roommate's digital camera! I got the scanner ready.

          Best wishes.
