In 2012 the University of Limerick in Ireland described a part of the body until then unknown by Western medicine. Described as the mesentery and a full organ in its own right, it is a mass of fatty tissue found between the other organs from the beginning to the end of the digestive system. So far researchers foresee large benefits to surgery, patient recovery, understanding organ diseases and treatments with continued study.
In Chinese medicine the triple warmer or San jiao has been known for a very long time. Those with Sifu's book on Chinese medicine can read about it on page 56. No such organ has been known or verified by Western sience until the recent discovery in Ireland, but this discovery bears resemblance to small parts of how Chinese medicine describes the San jiao.
