Scholar Project - "Living Shaolin Today!"
Come and join our very first Scholar Workshop world-wide!
Dear Shaolin Family,
The Scholar Committee is pleased to announce the first implementation of the Scholar Project.
Overall Aim of the Scholar Project:
To become Scholar-Warriors just as our own Sifu/Sigung is (and one of our forefathers Ven. Jiang Nan was).
A Scholar Warrior is vibrantly alive, knowing how to enjoy life to its fullest.
He/she is able to use his/her Shaolin skills in a variety of ways:
i) as self-defense,
ii) for healing (of oneself and others),
iii) to enjoy a life of quality and fulfillment.
Objectives of the Scholar Project:
To enable individuals to learn various life skills such as:
a) how to use the computer effectively for one's own business
b) how to eat and enjoy food not just because it fills our stomach, but because we can appreciate its fine flavours
c) how to read a book/magazine etc and not only extract information from it, but also enjoy it
d) how to negotiate in such a way that one can always close with a "win-win" deal - and enjoy the whole process!
First Scholar Weekend Workshop
Please find below the details of our first Scholar Weekend. A "creative-business" model is being used to present our first two "Scholar" topics.
Course Name:
Scholar Weekend - "Speak & Write your Way to Success"
Creative Topic One: Creative Writing
Business Topic Two: Public Speaking
Is this Course for You?
If you have ever wished that you could better present your ideas to your students, or if you have wondered how you could write an irresistible press release for your courses, then this is the perfect course for you.
This comprehensive workshop is designed specifically for anyone who would like to become able to do one or more of the following:
a) earn income where good writing and speaking skills are involved
b) overcome "nerves" when speaking in public, and be able to flow effortlessly through that chi kung, wedding or company speech
c) become published in the near future
d) uncover or strengthen your connection to your unique, authentic "voice"
e) use words in a "simple, direct, effective" way to raise the readers'/audiences' awareness of various issues
f) explore one's imaginative, intuitive side without the critical, editing mind taking over
Aims:
1. To contact one's authentic writing & speaking voice, be able to implement it, and enjoy both the process and its product
2. To become able to go into the chi kung state of mind and effortlessly "deliver" a written piece/a public speech.
Objectives:
a) be able to know the difference between planned and spontaneous writing/speaking
b) be able to utilise both methods of writing/speaking
c) be able to know the difference between explanatory and revelatory writing/speaking
d) be initiated into using both
e) to successfully write a short story, a press release and deliver a public speech
h) to publish the short story in a Shaolin Wahnam "Scholar" website
i) to deliver the speech via video and have it uploaded to the "Scholar" website

Toronto - clean city, great food!
Naturally, we hope that you are as excited as we are about this first weekend, and we look forward to seeing many faces, both familiar and unfamiliar, at the Toronto Workshop. If you've never been to Canada, this is a good time to consider flying out to the land of wild geese, moose and maple syrup!
We look forward to seeing you there!
