I injured my foot a many months ago and since then I went to many doctors. It was very confusing getting x rays and finding a specialist. In the end they found broken bones in places that doesn't hurt and abosolutely nothing wrong with the area where it hurts.
I kicked a street bench by acciedent when I was playing hacky sack. The first day was very bad swelling but after that, it only hurts when I stand walk or run. Since all other doctors found nothing wrong, I am wondering if this could just be blocked chi flow?
Broken bones cannot be representative of obstructed qi flow-a false analogy.
One needs to go to the health professional and PT?OT? and when the bones have healed, set in place depending on degree of impairment, then start ankle exercise.
These are as simple as:
a. ankle flexion and extension
b. ankle circle (left and right)
No you misunderstold me. I ment that on the area that hurts there is nothing wrong as far as the doctor can tell. The bones in that area are fine. But I did break some bones. However those areas do not hurt at all and I didn't even know I broke them until I got my x-ray
Btw I did break bones in my ankle but its ok now and thats not the problem. Its in the front of the foot right after the toes on that pivot point. It hurts when I walk or stand. And again doctors found nothing wrong with that area
I think I have experienced a similar pain in my right foot in the past ( in the same area you describe ). Although it might have been something completely different . It was as if there was a painful bruise inside the bones or something . It was very painful to walk or stand .
The few times this happened to me I had not injured my foot recently in any way that I could remember .
Sometimes my foot would be sore for up to a week . It has not happened to me for some time now .
I remember that massaging my foot helped quite a lot to ease the pain/pressure . I was very careful to listen to my body so as not to be too hard or too soft in the wrong areas . While rubbing my feet , I tried to GENTLY imagine the blockage slowly breaking up and evaporating ( couldn't think of a better word ) . After 2 or 3 days of this massage , the pain had completely dissapeared . Since I started training Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung I have not had any other incidents .
Sifu Wong has kindly published the ingredients and instructions for a medicinal wine , that is normally applied to areas of the body that are injured from training Kung Fu , in his book The Art Of Shaolin Kung Fu . Unfortunately I do not have it with me . Maybe someone else on the forum has it handy . Perhaps it could help with your injury .
The Classical Five Element Style of Oriental Medicine associates the health of bones and teeth with the Water Element Phase...which includes Kidneys, Urinary Bladder, Reproductive Functions, and Endocrine Gland Functions...everything related to fluid metabolism and the production, secretion, storage, and transport of bodily fluids. As such...anything which nourishes and tonifies these organs...especially the Kidneys...will accelerate the healing of bone fractures of any kind anywhere in the body.
Examples of such measures would include the ingestion of a bit of sea salt each day...as well as eating beans or peas of any kind...parsley and cilantro...legumes such as peanuts and cashews...and taking a Water Element Herbal Formula Combination such as 'Rehmannia Eight Formula' (Pa-Wei-Wan). Additionally...any shade of Blue Color worn as clothing...and Music in the Key of A Major...is strengthening to the bones and Water Element Associations by virtue of a shared Energetic Resonancy which differs by only .02-.03 Vibrations per Minute. Water Element Exercises such as Hsing-Yi Drilling Fist (Tsuan-Chuan) are also tonifiying to this Organ System.
If I understood your post correctly....the painful area on the bottom front part of your foot adjacent to the ball of the foot....is near the first Energy Point on the Kidney Chi Meridian Line...the Yung-Chuan (Bubbling Well) Point. Thus...even in the absence of any structural or tissue damage at this location...pain there would in my view reflect some disruption of the Kidney Chi which would benefit by the measures mentioned above...and perhaps the topical application of a suitable Dit Da Jow on the sore spot.
I hope some of this info is of help to you! Good Luck!
If you want to find a good Chinese doctor, I would recommend Tom Bisio, who specializes in Chinese traumatology and sports medicine. I believe he has a clinic in New York somewhere. I would also recommend his book, "A Tooth from the Tiger's Mouth," which is excellent.
Immobilization can affect joint mobility so the ankle exercises done in a gentle manner 2-3 times a day for 2 weeks are good. Soft, gentle exercises (taijiquan, qigong) are a good complement.
Antonius's recommendation of Tom Bisio's Chinese traumatology is an excellent
reference.
Sorry but my ankle doesn't hurt at all. Thats not the problem and there are no problems in the bones as far as the doctor can tell. My problem is different than you are thinking.
Thank you everyone else for your advice.
However I don't think its a bone bruise since it doesn't hurt when I touch it, only when I walk, run, or stand. Its been hurting for months and is really affecting my kung fu.
Thanks SifuStier. That is better than what most of my doctors say. lol. However do you know of any good chi kung exersizes or techinces that can help with injury?
Hey Antonius,
Sorry but I can't find the doctor but I did find another dit da doctor and he put on a patch. It helps but its not fully healed yet.
I really hope I can finally heal and do kung fu 100% again
Try talking to your foot. Ask the soul of your foot to release all excess energy that is stagnant at the pain area. Let these excess energy be distributed to other parts of your body where it is needed. When you communicate with your foot, be relaxed and smile from your heart. You must be positive that it will work. Just do it and don't worry how much time is needed. When it works you will know because you can feel it.
At the end of it - say good, good, good and thank you thank you thank you.
I communicate while lying down or sitting. It works all the time.
