      The Beautiful Nimitta

Thank you for sharing this beautiful text.

I wonder if it is appropriate to parallel 'experiencing the beautiful nimitta' with opening the third (wisdom) eye and 'entering Jhana' with merging with the cosmos?

I am very grateful that through our practice we can directly experience and verify the wisdom of such teachings.

      Thanks again,

      Joel

        Awareness of the Present

        hey guys,
very interesting article , Antons. I have being practicing this method accidentally for the past 6 months , i didnt realise it was actually a standard method ! I started awareness training a couple of years ago after reading the complete book of Zen by Sigung , he mentioned about it towards the end of the book so i started to use it. Found very hard at the beginning but gradually got easier , its only in the last six months that i have made a concentrated effort to develop it further and i have moved naturally from one stage to the next with no study or teacher . I am still working on holding my attention on the breath "full sustained attention on the breath" but i have in deep states "seen" flashes of the next stage. This of course is down to one thing only and is our Shaolin Wahnam training . Our chi kung state of mind allows us to penetrate deeper and let go of the world around us making meditation progress naturally , faster than a "normal" person.

Joel , i definitely believe the what Ajahn Brahmavamso talked about is in fact Merging with the Cosmos the only difference is that for us we can experience it through Sigungs teachings in an instant , but what we make up in time we lose in quality , our experiences would not be as deep or profound as had we trained our minds for years, meditating in the forests. Ajahn Brahmavamso talks about merging with the Cosmos for hours which for us would be very harmful as our minds are not yet conditioned for that. Its truely amazing that we can experince the these states so quickly , just by learning from Sigung . but by with our Shaolin Wahnam training and keeping our minds constantly aware with concentrated silence ,its like the sharpest sword in the world , anything is possible

        many happy blessings,
        chris

Hi Chris, I like to enjoy my breathing when I'm out and about. It's enjoyable and helps me to be present and flow through the environment enjoying the scenery.
