    All-Nations 2008 - Session Details

Below are the details for what each instructor will teach during their 1 hour session -

    Sifu Robin Gamble
    Taijiquan –

Application of Taijiquan, focusing on the flowing nature of the art .
Touching on striking, kicking, felling, gripping and 'going with the flow'.
Suitable for anyone with basic Kung-fu in our school.

    Sifu Tim Franklin
6 steps to free sparring –

Jumping straight into free sparring without practising the correct steps is a guaranteed way to make your sophisticated Kung Fu techniques feel useless.
Learn how one or two combat sequences can effectively be used in free sparring by following 6 simple steps.

    Sifu Marcus Santer
    Shaolin 18 Exercises Taster –

A sample of patterns from this Chi Kung set created by Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit.
This session will be of benefit to both Shaolin Kung Fu and Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung students.

    Sifu Simon Brooks
    Shaolin Five Animals -

I will be introducing the five Shaolin Animals.

Two patterns from each the Tiger, Crane, Snake, Leopard and Dragon will be combined into a short set.
Some patterns, such as Black Tiger Steals Heart or White Snakes Shoots Venom, will be familiar to you.
Other patterns like Angry Leopard Charges at Rock or Reincarnated Crane will allow you to cover new ground.
In the space of one hour you will not only be able to learn this set but also explore some of the applications.

Everyone has their favourite animal, will you pick the power of the Tiger, the elegance of the Crane, the soft yet viciousness of the Snake, the speed of the Leopard or the majesty of the Dragon?

    Sifu Jeffrey Segal
Introduction to Pushing Hands in Wahnam Taijiquan -

In Taijiquan, Pushing Hands forms the bridge between solo practice and sparring.
By training Pushing Hands, Taijiquan practitioners learn amongst many important skills to be sensitive to the energy and intention of their training partner.
As in all aspects of Wahnam Taijiquan, Pushing Hands is Qigong and trains the three treasures Jing, Qi and Shen.

Shaolinquan practitioners also enjoy our Pushing Hands and find that it improves their sparring as well as being a lot of fun.

In the course at the 2008 All Nations, Sifu Jeffrey will introduce the basic principles of Pushing Hands in Wahnam Taijiquan.
Special attention will be paid to sensitivity, energy flow, following and leading.

    Sifu Mark Appleford
Understanding the skills of the combat sequences –

Sifu Mark will draw on the Wahnam training methodology around combat sequences.

He will focus on the skill of reflection in training and how this can be applied to gaining insight to your own personal practice.
He will give both theory and practical applications to this subject, which will be of benefit to all levels.

    Sifu Jamie Robson
Exploring the stage of 'Addition' within the Shaolin Wahnam Sparring Methodology -

Fighting at the level of sequence, while applying suitable tactics and strategy is an advanced method of combat.
During this session, we will practice how, where and why to add patterns within your pre-fixed sequence.
