This term can be found on Sifu's Q&A August 2000 (part 1) page under Q&A no. 17. Here's the link:

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure if these are the correct characters. If someone can confirm or provide correction, could you please let me know?

      Best Wishes,
      Mike.

I somehow did not notice this until Anthony refer to it in a recent post.
        The correct term should be

Jian4 Jin4 in mandarin 渐进 in simplified character

浸进 would mean to soak or submerge in water

Thank you for your help, Qingui. I received a private message previously from someone (thank you! - you know who you are!) and they also suggested it.

Initially, I thought the character was what you have suggested. However, I was confused because the Cantonese romanisation did not seem to match. Also, in one of the dictionaries I use, it did mention that jin (or 浸 ) can mean gradual as well. Since my Chinese is not yet proficient, I may have used it in the wrong context.

Anyway, my apologies for the confusion and many thanks for helping me learn!

          Best Wishes,
          Mike.
