  • Chi Kung for psychological conditions

Word appears to be spreading around the hospital of the benefits of Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung. Numbers for the first three weeks have gone 7, 10, 13. We have now outgrown the room being used.

Other therapists in the hospital have told me that patients are actively promoting it to one another - all based on direct experience. That is the wonderful thing. They don't need to read random controlled trial results - they feel it working .

          Dear Barry,

Here's a toast to "the tipping point".

          Some day soon.

          Mark
          Facebook

"Then how could chi kung overcome diseases where the cause is unknown or when there is no cure? The question is actually incorrect. The expressions "the cause is unknown" and "there is no cure" are applicable only in the Western medical paradigm. The expressions no longer hold true in the chi kung paradigm. In the chi kung paradigm the cause is known, and there is a cure."

I am about to run a Chi Kung class in the hospital. As I've got a few minutes before I start, a seemingly rare commodity at the moment, I thought I would share how things are going.

Even though I have practised for nearly 6 years with Sifu now I continue to be amazed at the effects Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung has on people. I had two patients come up to me in the restaurant today to talk about the benefits they have been getting from regular practice. Also, the way Sifu has taught us to pass it on means people can experience their Chi Kung practice as a release from pressure or expectation rather than another burden - particularly useful for many people in the hospital.

Last week one woman talked about her experience at the end of the class. She said something along the lines of "I don't really have the words to explain this but I now know it means to be living in the present. Most of the time I have thoughts whirling around my head but have only just realised how much. Now I have had a glimpse of how it can be".

              With metta,

                Yep, it's a beautful thing

The more people who do Shaolin Cosmos Chi-kung, the more happy people there are in the world. So it's a great thing we have so many fine instructors such as yourself, Barry

I honestly feel the our chi-kung is one of the keys that unlocks Heaven on Earth.

Still continuing to get in excess of 12 students each week to the class at the psychiatric hospital.

I can really feel the confidence in the room, and in me , as people begin to let go more in their chi flows. A consistent response at the end of the class is people looking surprised and saying they had no thoughts running through their head. This is really quite a thing for this population.

Interestingly, people with problems of addiction seem to find the classes very inspiring. I had four patients from the Addictive Disorders Unit at the class yesterday.

There was also a woman who has been attending the hospital, on and off, for nearly twenty years. She has suffered some recent trauma and needed to return. Her psychiatrist had requested no "disturbing" therapy and a colleague had suggested she attend the class. I noticed she was very respectful and followed instructions well. During chi flow she began to sway gently. As I passed her it seemed right to just help her energy flow slightly faster. As I did she brought her hands to her face and burst out into wracking sobs. During sharing she said she had had no thoughts in her head when letting go and had suddenly felt an unbearable sadness well up in her. She said that it was strange as she now felt sad but it didn't bother her and she felt very peaceful.

I am continuing to find great blessings in the opportunity to teach in this setting.

                  With metta,
