  • Emiko Sije at The Blue Mountain

I just wrote this entry in the Spanish part of the forum and was asked to translate it into English, so here it is:

    August at La Montaña Azul!

I am still at La Montaña Azul (The Blue Mountain) closing up the last open ends of two spectacular weeks of profound learning experiences, great interactions, very fun leisure time, a total recharge for Body, Mind, Heart and Soul! Thank you All!!

And I am also savoring my next visit:

On the first week of August (1-8) my dear Sister Emiko Hsuen will be visiting Costa Rica at La Montaña Azul. She will offer a Wahnam Taijiquan course, were hopefully we will be able to learn her excellent subtle management of chi applied to this wonderful Art.

I have had the privilege to be with Emiko Sije in courses and free time and every meal, every conversation, every training and every “crossing of arms” have been great transmissions of her profound knowledge and experience about the right balance of Power, Wisdom and Compassion.

And to top it all up, because it is school holidays for many, Proyecto Alaya – Sifu Simon Rodríguez´ summer camp right beside La Montaña Azul – will be offering a special program for kids and teens, so that the whole family can travel to Costa Rica. While adults train with Emiko Sije at La Montaña Azul, the young ones will enjoy this “boutique camp” (with personalized service for only a maximum of 36 participants!) through sensory and nature awareness, conservation, adventure, introduction to internal martial arts and lots of fun.

I already reserved a spot and would like to know who else is coming!

    Best to all!

    Piti

    Dear Sifu Piti,

After reading this news about Emiko Sije teaching Wahnam Taijiquan in Blue Mountain, I went to visit the website of Blue Mountain and I was so amazed by how beautiful the pictures were. Also, other members of Shaolin Wahnam Japan looked at these pictures and they were just as amazed as I was.

From Japan, Costa Rica is very very far away. But after I saw these website photos, I felt the strong wish to come.

So, I look forward to seeing you there in August!

    Warmest wishes,

    Yumi

      Dear Piti Siheng,

Thank you for letting us know about this excellent opportunity to learn from Emiko Sijie. A great location and a great teacher!

"Then how could chi kung overcome diseases where the cause is unknown or when there is no cure? The question is actually incorrect. The expressions "the cause is unknown" and "there is no cure" are applicable only in the Western medical paradigm. The expressions no longer hold true in the chi kung paradigm. In the chi kung paradigm the cause is known, and there is a cure."

Comprehensive Wahnam Tai Chi Chuan with Sifu Emiko at the Blue Mountain

            Dear all,

I’m glad and honor Sifu’s Emiko accepted our invitation to give her first Wahnam Tai Chi Chuan comprehensive course in Latin America, a course to understand and experience the application of chi in Tai Chi Chuan’s movements.

This is an opportunity for both beginners and seniors to deepen in one of the most important aspects of the art, whether you are new or experienced this course will increase your level while you enjoy the magical beauty of the Blue Mountain, the Shaolin Wahanam Center for Latin America.

Following the relevant information about this wonderful opportunity:

            Dates: 1 – 8 of August 2009

            Contents:

            -Chi applications
-Reading the chi of the partner
-How to reflect/deflect/superimpose/diffuse the partner's chi
-The use of soft internal force and its benefits
-How to enter and exit with chi flow
            -Advanced footwork with chi
            -Following the opponent's chi
-Making your chi "apparent" vs. "invisible"
-Managing your internal force: know how to use just enough, and not more
-How to spar with the dantian open/closed; how to know what the differences are
-How to spar with one-pointed mind or zero mind

With a mixed levels class, Sifu Emiko splits the participants into appropriate groups (beginner/intermediate/senior/instructor) and teaches them according to where they are each at.

            About Sifu Emiko:

            Shaolin Arts

Sifu Emiko Hsuen first began learning martial arts at the age of eleven. She trained in various styles under well-established masters, until finally meeting her current master, 4th-generation successor to the Shaolin arts from the southern Shaolin Monastery, Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit. Sifu Hsuen has been studying under him since 2000 and is honored to be one of his inner-chamber disciples. She is certified to teach Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung, Shaolin Kungfu and Wahnam Taijiquan. Sifu Hsuen is also the Chief Instructor for Shaolin Kungfu in Canada.

            Chi Kung (Qigong)

The first person to introduce Sifu Hsuen to chi kung was Dr. Wei Zhang, a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Sifu Hsuen later learned '20 Postures Qigong' from Master Helen Xiao Rong Wu, who had received it from her late grandfather, Grandmaster Wang, Zi-Ping. In 2000, Sifu Emiko Hsuen flew to Malaysia to study with Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit, who accepted her as a student of the Shaolin arts. There, she learned Shaolin Cosmos Chi Kung, the form of chi kung that she practices and teaches today.

            Meditation

Sifu Emiko Hsuen began her training in meditation at age nineteen, under her first teacher, Lama Jetsun Yeshe. She was subsequently sent to study with other pre-eminent teachers such as Ven. Karma Thinley Rinpoche, Ven. Namgyal Rinpoche, Geshe Ngawang Kalden, Ven.Khenpo Sonam Rinpoche, Ven. Kiccanana, Lama Jetsun Kusho Chime Luding. She was trained concurrently in the Rosicrucian and Sufi traditions from 1991 to 2002.

            Martial Arts

Some of Sifu Hsuen's past teachers include: Sifu Helen Xiao Rong Wu (granddaughter of the late Grandmaster Wang Zi-Ping - Taijiquan, Northern Shaolin Kungfu), Sifu Wenqi Li (former Canadian National Wushu Head Coach - Modern Wushu), Leslie Swan (Yip Man Wing Chun), Danny Xuan (Yip Man Wing Chun), Master Jae-Young Kwak (WTF - President of Taekwondo Australia Inc.)

                            Dear Shaolin Family,

What a wonderful course this is going to be!
All the participants are in for a real treat: a magical place, good company, and exceptional teachings. I know that Emiko Sije will generously share a lot of her deep understanding of chi during this course.

Thank you Sije for sharing your knowledge, thank you to Rama Siheng and Simon for the organisation, and of course, thank you to Sifu for making it all possible!
