  • Some heart unrest

    Hello

Few years ago I developed something what I suppose is some kind of nervous heart sensations probably caused by stress. It is that even while resting and doing nothing special I could feel every beat of my heart. Normally people do not feel their hearts all the time. Sometimes the heart becomes a little unrest also. I had some examination and de doctor said it is healthy. But what is important is that now it occurs rarely but it sometimes occures during my practice mostly after chi flow during standing maditation. Last time it disappeared after I thought about dan tian. I think I might do something wrong. I try to relax before practice and stop thinking about worries etc but I think there is still anger present in me during practice so maybe it is the cause. Nevertheless after practice I feel usually very good fresh relaxed and like blessed . Should I do something about this phenomenon? Is it dangerous?

    Best regards
    Marek

Noone can completely answer your questions, Marek. If you were here, for example, it would be quite simple to observe you and your practice and, if needed, make corrections. It is not so simple via the Virtual Kwoon.

If in doubt about your condition, seek out a good qualified medical practitioner of whichever medical school you consider appropriate.

Having said that, the practice is unlikely to be the cause considering your other comments.

If you want to have your practice optimised / corrected, there is no better advice than to seek a Master or at least competent instructor to help and guide you.

        Hello Marek,
If your heart is beating very irregularly that is a cause for concern, of course. But if the doctors say you are ok, then I would not worry. As a psychologist, I can tell you that many people, who are healthy and aware, ARE indeed able to notice each heart beat when they are at rest and peaceful and make an effort to pay attention. So maybe this is a good thing, and not something to be at all concerned about. I wish you continued good practice!

I could not lie anymore so I started to call my dog "God". First he looked confused, then he started smiling, then HE EVEN DANCED! I kept at it; now he doesn't even bite. I am wondering if this might work on people?Tukaram

Hi Marek, I want you to know that I am having a similar problem. I have been having distracting heart palpitations for the past few months. I have been learning a lot about heart problems from my doctor and medical encyclopedias. My understanding is that not all heart abnormalities can be found in a quick doctor's visit, even if an EKG is taken. Sometimes people must be monitored for days. If you have any doubts about your health, you may want to ask a doctor about getting a Holter monitor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holter_monitor). It couldn't hurt.

Even though my problem is very likely a minor one, my doctor has encouraged me to get a Holter monitor and I will do so tomorrow!

I had some ultra sound examination of my heart it was ok. I did not have a holter. Well it is a minor symptom. I was wandering if I was doing my practic corectly because I had this feeling during my practice (however not palpitations or anything just this feeling of heart bits)

            Thank You

You're welcome. I'm a little confused by your explanation, as heart palpitation basically is sudden, unusual feeling of heartbeats. I don't have anything to add to the advice above, though. I'll defer to the instructors here as far as your chi kung practice goes. Best wishes!
