I've been a Reiki Therapist for over ten years and since taking an interest in Kung Fu I've wondered if manipulating Reiki energy is the same as manipulating Chi Kung Energy.
I don't have a sifu of my own to ask but I have been training out of Kung Fu manuals for about a year.
since there is only one source, the Universe - there is only one energy. You may call it "outer" (Cosmos) or "inner" (your bodies') energy.
There is a difference though ... Reiki energy is covered with symbols; it doesn't float free, but depends on special symbols. Therefore Reiki energy depends how much all those people practicing Reiki and getting Master degrees are spiritually develloped. - It means, clearly spoken, this energy isn't able to float freely. It is covered with a lid.
But real Qi is not covered at all - it is the energy we all exist of. The outer Qi is free for all people using it unconsciously (through breath) and consciously (e.g. through practicing Wahnam Cosmos Chi Kung).
With Qi-Gong practice you do not need any inauguration to use Qi energy - since it is your right to use it as best as you can - because this energy exists since the birth of the universe, and all life is born from the universe. The universe is our mother; Qi is our source.
There lies the difference - to my opinion.
All my best,

Ordinarily, when drawing Reiki energy I draw it from the universe rather than generating it from the Dan Tian. When I'm training stances I kinda feel like I'm "cheating" if I just draw the energy directly.
The thing is, the Reiki energy is not only drawn from the cosmos. It is a quality of energy lowered by the symbols in the aura of Reiki users.
A Chi kung practicer uses Cosmic energy by breathing in, merging it with his own inner energy, both stored in the Dantian.
I would recommend to first inform about Chi Kung and KungFu - Sifu Wong wrote some books about these subjects, including TaiChi, Zen and Chinese Medicine. (Of course, there are many other authors devoted to the Art of Chi Kung.)
A Chi kung practicer uses Cosmic energy by breathing in, merging it with his own inner energy, both stored in the Dantian.
This is only partially true. The use of cosmic energy is not necessarily related to breathing patterns. Often the breathing is used as a convenient method to assist energy control. It is by far not the only possibility.
