  • Nutrition and Physical Degeneration

Hi, I will write a review also, but for now, has anyone read or heard about "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration" by Weston A. Price"?

    Here's a summary:

"This book distills the research of Weston A. Price, a dentist and independent nutrition researcher. In a decade of travel around the world, Price and his wife studied the health, dietary habits, and chemical composition of food of dozens of traditional peoples of various racial backgrounds. His research was done at a time when many such groups still lived free of the influence of Western civilization and what he called "foods of commerce," i.e. heavily refined and denatured foods."

It is fascinating, as culture after culture of people have just superb health. Then they eat "white people food" and become depressed, lose all their teeth and get diseases they never used to get. It also includes pictures!

Weston A. Price rocks. I highly recommend his site: www.westonaprice.org

I also recommend this book: "Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats" by Sally Fallon, Mary G. Enig, Pat Connolly.

Sweet. I thought you might know about both those books because I saw you mention raw milk in a thread somewhere a couple weeks ago. I always wanted to try raw milk. I love milk but it leaves me feeling 'weird,' so really I never drink it, but organic wholemilk yoghurt is a little more kind to me in not making me feel so odd. I got both of those books for Christmas this year. I love eating pork fat, beef fat, chicken fat, and butter you name it and also homemade stock is REALLY GOOD.

Technically that site is not HIS site because I think he is deceased, but it is Sally Fallon's site which is inspired by his works.

On my myspace page (link's on my profile) there is a picture of me with the head of a dead fish in my hand. I was making fish stock, but I did something WRONG because it came out tasting like filth and it gave me the vomit reflex so I tossed it. (Maybe I used a wrong kind of fish as they were fresh fish cought by a friend of my girlfriend?? Or maybe a wrong fish part??) Hey we live and learn right? And it was damned fun so what the hey!

      All the Best,

        Nutrition and Physical Degeneration

        Good Day!

        Thanks for the informations!

I remember Dr. Peter D'Adamo said that Kung Fu was good for blood type 0 and others where better for Tai Chi while others where better for Yoga etc! You can read that on his book: Eat Right 4 Your Type!

of course I don't believe on this 100 % but is a good information!

You can see his Homepage here:

The Blood Type Diet is your key to learning from Dr. D'Adamo about personalized nutrition, supplements and eating right for your blood type.

        Thanks!

PS. The books can be in your library!

I just thought I'd share my experience, I wasn't allowed sweets or non-Indian foods before the age of six

My mum used to feed me home made yogurt(which she still makes every week). Lot's of fruit, lentils(dahl) and Vegetable dishes(curried).

I also know how to make these dishes, but don't cook them as often as I should. The area my parents are from(in India) uses a lot of dairy such as buttermilk, yogurt, fried cheese and a lot of other highly nutritious foods. That area Punjab is known as the 'bread basket' of India, since the region has very rich soil-producing large quantities of fruit & veg, dairy, lentil, rice, sugar cane, wheat, herbs & spices.

A lot of people(from that region) have good health without ever eating meat,
but since many of these people have immigrated to the UK/US and Canada they only seem to eat fried chicken or Indian sweets!

          God bless Shamsher.

Nice to hear the history Shamsher!

So is possible for people to live until old whiteout eating meat?

I just wonder because I heard that there is a protein or something like that the body must have and that there is only in meat! ( But I don't know if this is, for all the peoples or just for few ones!) Maybe those that have blood type O

            I don't know man!

Any one that have some comments? thanks!

            Regards~Hugo

I do not know about the meat eating.

One interesting thing is that of all the cultures that Weston A. Price studied only one of them didnt eat meat and that was the Indians (from India). I believe that NO cultures existed without eating some kind of animal proteins and fats regularly, whether that be meats or dairy. There were a wide variety of diets such as the Masai of Africa who's diet consisted of cow meat, cow blood and cow milk. Or an isolated Swiss village/town where they ate large amounts of special cheese and milk, whole grain bread, and only ate meat once a week. One interesting thing is the WIDE variety of diets eaten by these different cultures, yet they all worked very well. I could never do this book justice since it is HUGE.

              All the Best,

There are different opinions on the matter some say its impossible. Hundreds of yogis spanning back generations have also said it is possible. I guess its up to what your research turns up and what you personally find is best

I am CERTAIN it is possible. But also, the fact that these people are yogis, and thus exceptional and specially trained people changes the equation some I am sure.

What about Rastafarians? they do not eat dairy/animal by products of any kind...Bob Marley supposedly followed this diet.

                        dreadlocks

                        shamsher,

Rastafari is more than just diet though many eschew meat. Usually fish is a part of diet. It is more of a way of life than just eating certain food and avoiding others. THe tropical mountains are also a shelter filled with natural food and of course the ubiquitious ganja!
Dreads do not a Rastafari make!

Shamsher, I was saying NO cultures mentioned in the book lived without eating meat or dairy.

It is fascinating to see the pictures of skulls of deceased old-age people with perfect teeth like a horses mouth or something.

Sorry my mistake, I have sixteen exams in the next three weeks and all this studying is turning my brain to mush!.I hope it is all worth it.

Back to the matter of the thread's topic: my grandmother and grandfather lost all their teeth(eating too much sugar cane) by the time they reached eighty years of age.

My father has only about ten left I told him to stop eating so much sugar cane but he doesn't listen to me ...I guess it depends on how much you indulge.
Then again i'm just as bad.

Yeniseri I know about Rasta's but the strict adherents do not eat meat of any sort and some of them do not touch marijuana.

                            God bless Shamsher.

Relax, remained gently focussed and keep your mouth gently open in preparation for and during the exams. Do in your preparation what you intend to do in the exams.

                              Good luck Shamsher!
