DAY 1

Martial Applications of Flow – with Sifu Darryl Collett
How to not freeze, pause or allow you and your partner to become a broken seesaw when practicing combat sequences.

Depth and Skills contained in sequences 1-4 or Black Tiger set – with assistant instructor Jonny Say.
Have you ever wondered how much depth is contained within the first four basic combat sequences? Attend this 1hour seminar and get an insight into the skills and concepts that one can aim to achieve by training these sequences. In this session you will cover the importance of form, the fundamental skills, the variation and continuation within the first four basic sequences. Whether you are a beginner or have a good understanding of these sequences come along and enjoy getting back to basics!

Adding variation to practice – with assistant instructor Simon Brooks.
With an aim to showing how any drill can be expanded upon we will use the first couple of combat sequences as a basis for variations including changing the stances, using left mode and continuous attacks.

How to take your practice to the next level using aims and objectives – with Sifu Marcus Santer.
Setting clearly defined aims and objectives helps you to focus your practice and steer it in the direction you want. The Shaolin Arts offer a staggering variety of areas for life improvement. Knowing what you want to achieve and why will help you to choose wisely. My outcome for this session is that you will set aims and objectives that excite you and drive you to achieve them whilst enjoying the process.

The Art of Flexibility - Relax, release and enjoy – with Sifu Michael Durkin.
Just as a smile lifts spirits and breaks the doldrums, stretching, relaxing and enjoying yourself frees the body of tension and aids the clearance of rust and dust. The class covers the 6 patterns of 'The Art of Flexible Legs' from the Shaolin Wahnam program, along with additional stretches as an extra bonus for enjoyment and variety. The aim of this class is to gain the skills of 'listening to your body', 'perseverance' and 'relaxation'.

The Do's and Don’ts that will enhance your Shaolin Chi Kung practice, including form, breathing and mind focus - with Sifu Joan Browne.
A one-hour interactive session covering many of the pitfalls of everyday
practice of Shaolin Chi Kung. The session will include when & where to practice,
what to practice, good combinations, as well as discussion and participation on
form, breathing and mind focus.

The 10 Shaolin Laws – Sifu Jordan Francis.

Making training fun – with assistant instructor Innes Maran.
No further details available at this time.

'Variations of Patterns within the Lohan Asks The Way Set' – with assistant instructor Jamie Robson.
It will cover several variations for each of the 8 fundamental patterns,
using particular situations to demonstrate examples. This may range from
Ground-Work to Multiple Attackers.

Manifesting Flow within your daily life – with Sifu Darryl Collett.
How to train yourself to roll with the punches.

Can people without experience of Wahnam kung fu take part in the kung fu training, if they intend to start training? It could perhaps be a good introduction. If not (I realise it said it was only for those with experience of Shoalin kung fu) then I apologise for the question.

I ask this as I am considering applying to do the intensive kung fu course in Frankfurt with Sifu Wong, which takes students from level 1-6 (if they have martial arts experience, as I do).

Sorry Phil but, as you pointed out, the weekend is only for existing students of the Shaolin Wahnam Institute.

People like yourself who have not covered the basics of our training like stances, footwork and basic patterns would not benefit fully from the sessions being taught. This event is however only the start of many to come, we'll be back next year!

The best introduction you could have before going to Frankfurt would be to visit the classes taught in Bristol by Sifu Jordan Francis. Details can be found on the Shaolin Wahnam UK site.

Best regards

Simon

This is a fantastic program!!
I might be travelling the world, but honestly, I am jealous I can't be there :)

I can't stress enough how good this program is. It really encompasses what genuine Shaolin Kung Fu is all about. Well done everyone involved!

Who knows, maybe in a few years we can have a 4 nations gathering which would include France ;)

Hello everyone,

Preparations for the weekend are well underway and I'm looking forward to sharing my home town with you all.

In order to make the eating arrangements I need everyone who wants to attend the Saturday evening meal to email me (simon.brooks@shaolinwahnam.co.uk) or notify their instructor by the 4th of January.

The training hall is nice and large so numbers for the actual course are not so important, but if those wishing to attend could registor with Sifu Marcus Santer as early as possible that would also be helpful.

Warm regards

Simon

Hello All,

*FINAL NOTICE*

Further to Simons post (see above) I would like to remind everyone who is attending the 3 Nations Gathering, or planning to, that Simon (simon.brooks@shaolinwahnam.co.uk) needs to know who is going to the evening buffet by 4th January (or else you'll have to bring a packed lunch  ). Once that date is gone it will be too late for you to attend. So act now to avoid disappointment :D

There are still a few places left at the Gathering so if you wish to attend make sure to register with me (marcus.santer@shaolinwahnam.co.uk) as soon as possible.

Kind regards

Marcus

Just a quick update:

Sifu Joan Browne is not able to join us on this occasion as she will be in Malaysia taking part in the Tai Chi Chuan intensive.

Assistant Instructor Jonny say is also unable to attend.

Sifu Joan Browne has kindly sent me her notes for her talk and I shall do my best to present it to you in as professional and useful manner as Sifu Joan Browne.

Assistant instructor Mark Tranter is currently being persuaded to give Jonny's presentation, but this is yet to be confirmed :)

I look forward to seeing all of you there and having a lovely evening meal with excellent company.

Kind regards

Marcus

I have been persuaded to give Jonny's presentation(or rather, my version of it :) ).
I will still be doing the 'Solidify your foundations' session with Sifu Franklin, as this is one of my favourite aspects of training.
I look forward to seeing everyone, old and new faces alike.
Warm regards,
Mark.
