I recommend this title whole heartedly. Those who have read Sukhavati: Western Paradise by Sifu Wong Kiew Kit will find it very interesting, especially the last few chapters.
I have read the abridged Arthur Waley translation, but am actively seeking a full 100 chapter version.
I have the opportunity to read the original in Mandarin but that was during my secondary school days and I just enjoy the story line and the characters. I never seriously look into the philosophical aspect of the story. Now I have grown up and with my learning in Buddhism and Qigong I should be able to appreciate the book in another perspective. Thank you for reminding me about the book. By the way it is widely accepted as one of the 4 greatest books written in Chinese. I like the other book "Hong Lou Mong" much better. I thought the book is easily available in the bookstore in Malaysia, the Mandarin version as well as Dual langauges (Mandarin and English)version.
