I am about 3 quarters through 'Autobiography of a Yogi'
So far it's covered,
physics, music, kings, warriors, masters, saints, endless miracles and explanations of how they work by vibrations and light manipulations through will,
death transitions, past life memories, various states of conciousness, tracking spirits after death,
tiger fighting, himalyan trekking, incredible visions,
weather manipulations, instantaneous healings, the secrets of maya,
and the endless miricale that was this mans life in the 1900's . I think it's the step by step awakening of a saint to his purpose and at the moment I'm where he's opened a school that won a nobel prize.
An additional reason it's so good is that it's so personal, yet he has clearly offered every detail of his life's transitions for anyone to discover. It starts with his memory of his conscious birth into a new life and goes from there...
You can read it online ! ! ****** http://www.crystalclarity.com/yogananda/1.asp
Another book that has a similar style and content is The Chronicles of Tao. more a descriptive account of a true taoist masters life. born royalty in the hands of masters, trained to become a warrior killing many respected artists, you share his discovery that although he had no difficulty in performing deadening blows or gruesome strikes, as he aged and attained higher levels of mastery he focoused his energy on spiritual realizations to the fleeting satisfactions of death challenges of which he always won.
Wierdly in his earlier years he killed mercilessly, until he met two immortals who made him realise if he wanted to be enlightened in the present life he would have to preserve his energy. The story describes just how he did.
This book is beautifully scenic and tangible with a balanced perspective on the uses and mortality of intensive martial arts training. it includes encounters with really intimidating characters that inspired kung fu movies, opium, swords, caves, palaces, battles, politics, blood, secret fighting styles, immortals, transformations,
All with the heaviest dose of rebelliousness one man could apply. I found it utterly strange with its paralelled accounts of violence and serene peace. I've come to interpret that this man had incredible strength that fought through early manhood, later unfolding in more miraculous ways.
basically it's WICKED.
and doubly because it's true!
You can read the first few pages on amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0062...08#reader-page
