  • Hong Xiguan 洪熙官 the series

    Dear all

I have acquired a new TV series on Hong Xiguan (I think it is pronounced Hoong Hei Khoon in Cantonese). Hong Xiguan was a gret Shaolin kungfu master, from whom many lineages can be traced, including ours.

As far as realistic fighting goes, it is quite good, but it does not show any "secret" training methods. It is in fact quite a typical Hong Kong production except that the fighting scenes are one of the best I have seen. After all, the main star is Donnie Yen. The problem is that there is a little bit of "wire kungfu" in it.

All this historical figures mentioned in Sifu's Q&A are in there - Fang Shiyu, Bai Mei, Yongchun (Wing Chun), but I think the history is a little distorted. Go to Sifu's Q&A for the correct legends. Still, I rate this series highly. Be warned, though, it has a tragic ending, keeping with the actual historical events.

If anyone wants to buy it, I will bring it over during the Review course or at the Nov intensive qigong course. Because I am bringing over other stuff, I have room for only one set so please PM me quick!

    Sorry, guys,

Sifu has booked it! Well, looked like no one was interested anyway.

Counting down to next week when I can see him again!!!

      Never be afraid to fail!

Well, that's what I get for not paying attention .

I'm onto a losing arguement here, but if Zen is zero or one and Yin/Yang is one or two, surely bringing two would be better than just bringing one, since one is actually zero anyway. Therefore, to avoid disappointing Sifu, I think you should bring two. If you do bring two and give one to Sifu, then the remaining one (which is actually none) can be given to me (and no one else can have it since it is zero).

Since Sifu was first with timing, I will try quantum and the fact that even thought I am at the wrong time (now), I will be in the right place (Malaysia).

Alternately, do you have the details where it could be ordered (a far simpler solution all round)?

Er, can you try that in a language that I actually understand, like Swaihili?

I got it from a brick and vendor. I will try to get it if you really want one, but there is only one set for each series, so I am not hopeful.

            Dear Wuji,

Thank you for your consideration, but I am quite happy in not having a copy.

Some cruel people (Mark A!) already think I watch too many films and while I don't exactly agree, I do think I have other aspects of my training to bolster first.
