  • Dalia Lama Four Noble Truths DVD

    Hi

I've just started watching a DVD box set called "The Dalai Lama The Four Noble Truths".

You can get it from Amazon, unfortunately you need a DVD that can play region 1 discs.

It is six hours of material recording His Holiness the Dalai Lama giving a teaching in London of the Four Noble Truths; The truth of suffering, The truth of the origin of suffering, The truth of the cessation of suffering, The path that leads to the cessation of suffering.

    Hope you find this interesting.

      Hi barrys

what is a "region 1 disk"?
      This link explains DVD formats:

I don't know why they are different, basically region 1 discs are from America and Canada, the UK and Europe is region 2. So in the UK you need to make sure your dvd player can play region 1 American discs. I have no idea if these players are common or not.

I hope I haven't recommended something that hardly anyone can watch!

I may be able to redeem myself, there is a book version of this teaching called "A Simple Path: Basic Buddhist Teachings".

      Good old books work anywhere!

        Money

There's more to it than just that, but usually everything breaks down to money. Different countries have different distributers (affecting release dates, quantities, distribution rights etc), films may have different titles depending on when & where in the world they are being shown (e.g. Crossroads is an excellent film, but Crossroads is a terrible film) and piracy is a big problem world wide. All of these common themes revolve around ... money.
