Greetings everyone, Happy Halloween!!!
Story Time.
Li Wu came from a chivalrous family in Shangtung province at the time of Tsing Dynasty. Since his ancestors were very well known for their pugulisms, Li Wu had learned many fighting skills in his youth. But he learned his skill in a special way: in his garden were planted many trees and he used to kick the trees in his practice with both legs. In the beginning such kicking gave him much pain to his legs but he got used to it gradually during his practice, over time his legs became more powerful than ever. After three years, he was able to break the trees in the circumference of about one foot with a sweeping kick kick of his leg.
It was a common practice for some Chinese gentlemen in their leisure time in those days to carry a bird cage to stroll along the streets just for wandering. A pointed iron hook was usually attached to the top of the birds cage to facilitate transportation.
According to the rule of the pugilists, the method of carrying the cage varied in two ways: when the iron hook was pointed to the outside, it meant that the man concerned was friendly and needed the help of other friends, praticularly from the other pugilists. On the other hand, if the hook was pointed to the inside, it meant that the carrier was good enough in his fighting skill and needed no help from the others. Proud of himself, Li was always negligent of such a rule. Of course, the other native fellows were all aware of his good skills and dared not to look for trouble from him.
One day on the street, he happened to meet several soldiers from the North Camp of the city, who usually relied on their multitude and power to bully the weak. Noticing that Li didn't observe the rule in carrying a bird's cage, the soldiers came forward to seize his cage. Then a fighting took place immediately. Shortly more than one hundred soldiers came to take part in the fighting. Li was outnumbered. Then crouching on the ground, Li stretched out his leg and swept the soldiers in a circle movement with his iron leg. First, more than ten soldiers toppled to the ground. Several sweeping of his legs caused more than sixty men to tumble. Then all the soldiers were in terror and ran away hastily. So Li took his cage home safely.
Li lived a strange life. Though good in skills, he was not fond of picking out any young man to be his student, nor was he willing to show his fine fighting technique to others. Among many Kung Fu, he was especially excellent in Iron Broom.
I hope you enjoyed the story.
Best wishes,
Anton
