      Hi Joko,

      I hope you're well.

Thank you for asking for my thoughts.

I think it means that if you can be satisfied with a piece of bread, then you are much better off than someone who is continually trying to work out what 'complete happiness' is and then trying to achieve it.

I sometimes wish for something I've already got, or treat myself to a glass of water.

      Many Regards,
      Chris.

was just watching Parkinson (an english chat show legent )he was talking to Joanna Lumley and finished the conversation by asking her "you had a good go at life didn't you ",her response was "yea I like it " .Its as simple as that .
Dance like no one is watching .Sing like no one is listening .Love like you've never been hurt and live like it's heaven on Earth .

          Driving

          Greetings everyone,

I was driving home from work the other day when a thought came up that happiness is a lot like driving a car.

          1) What you pay attention to is important. If you keep focused on the road ahead, you will continue forward.

(If you keep focused on gratitude/good thoughts/doing things that you like, you will continue to live a happy life.)

          2) There are always distractions, but quickly returning your eyes to the road keeps you from running off of it.

(A quick smile from the heart keeps you on track)

          3) If you get distracted by too many things, you might crash into something.

(If you work too hard when you need a rest, pay attention to the negativity and gossip you hear around you, etc... then you might find yourself unhappy)

Care to extend this analogy any further?

          Erica

            I'd say that's a pretty solid analogy.

            Here's another:
Happiness is like sleeping: it's super.

              Hello Brothers and Sisters,
I think happiness is our natural state and we can experience it anytime anywhere we want. But the other emotions that we experience as living beings are natural and necessary for our development.

              In other words:

(Sifu voice) "Just Enjoy, Let go!"

              ^_^

              "Om"

Whenever someone asks me the half full/half empty question I always like to say it depends on how much I was suppose to get.

If I was suppose to get half then fine. If I was suppose to get the full glass then who took the other half and why?

                        Quotes on Happiness

                        Greetings everyone,

First, I'd like to sincerely thank everyone who has been posting on this thread. It has been a joy to read your posts and watch it develop.

I'd like to add this quote I just found:

The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.

-M. Scott Peck (Author of The Road Less Traveled)
Indeed, it was a state of deep discomfort that led me to Shaolin Wahnam.

Interesting how happiness and unhappiness are both great blessings.

Also interesting that people know to "search for different ways or truer answers" during times of unhappiness. Deep down, we must be aware that joy is a natural state--a birthright--and that a long-term deviation away from happiness is unnatural.

                        Any more quotes?
                        Erica

                          I like how Bobby McFerrin put it;

                          "Dont worry be happy"
When one door closes, another one opens.
