    Dear Shaolin Wahnam Family,

Please find below another beautiful and inspiring quote from Sifu:

"Compassion and wisdom are the two cardinal virtues of Mahayana Buddhism.

There are different levels of compassion. Giving some money to a beggar to buy food is being compassionate. But some people may argue that it encourages him to be lazy. The intellectual may debate whether this is a sign of wisdom or an excuse for refusing to give some money. The compassionate, however, will not be interested in the intellectual debate. He will rather make a mistake by giving money to a lazy person than seeing a beggar starve.

According to the Buddha's teaching, there are three types of wisdom — language wisdom, illuminated wisdom and cosmic wisdom. Language wisdom is the lowest, illuminated wisdom is intermediate, and cosmic wisdom is the highest.

Language wisdom is derived from words. Intellectualizing that giving money to a beggar may discourage him from working is an example of language wisdom. Illuminated wisdom is derived from direct experience in our phenomenal world. Realizing that giving a beggar money to buy food will save him from hunger, irrespective of whether he is lazy to work, is an example of illuminated wisdom. Cosmic wisdom is also derived from direct experience, but is transcendental. Perceiving the intricate matrix of the beggar's poverty and your prosperity in relation with contributing factors in the past and inevitable developments in the future, is an example of cosmic wisdom". - Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit

      Dear Shaolin Wahnam Family,

Please find below another wonderful quote from Sifu. I personally love this one:

“Then my master gave me some invaluable advice, which may paradoxically appear trite until we take time to investigate its profundity. He said, “Make friends, not enemies. It is easy to get into animosity, but very difficult to get out of it.

Do not waste your precious Shaolin arts on quarrels which may loom large and important from a narrow spatial or temporal dimension, but which are actually petty if we view them from a wider perspective. Use the Shaolin arts to help people, to relieve suffering and save lives, worldwide and for all time.”” - Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit

        Dear Shaolin Wahnam Family,

I would like to share with you today another fantastic and inspiring quote from Sifu:

In my teaching I have often mentioned the five levels of chi kung as follows:

        1) Medical chi kung.
        2) Chi kung for health and vitality.
        3) Chi kung for the philosophers.
        4) Chi kung for the general.
        5) Spiritual chi kung.

These five levels correspond to the developmental stages of a person.

If a person is sick, he should get well first. Attempting to work hard when he is sick, is being irresponsible to himself and others. He should practice medical chi kung to restore his health.

Then he should practice chi kung for health and vitality so that he can do his work well in order to provide for his wife and children to the best of his ability. If he neglects his family to see God, God will ask him to go home to look after his family. He promised God at his marriage to provide for his wife and children to the best of his ability.

After having done his job well and provide well for his wife and family, he can engage himself in hobbies, which may be classified as scholarly or martial. Neglecting his work and family to enjoy himself in hobbies is being irresponsible. To excel in his scholarly or martial hobbies, he can practice chi kung for philosophers and chi kung for generals.

Having done his work well and provided well for his family, he may dedicate him to return to God. Spiritual chi kung will be most suitable for him at this stage.

These five levels of chi kung serve as guidelines for emphasis in a practitioner’s training. Even when he practices medical chi kung to overcome sickness, he must not neglect his spirit. All healing starts from the heart, the spiritual heart.

On the other hand, when he practices spiritual chi kung to return to God, he must not neglect his health. The great Bodhidharma, for example, taught the Shaolin monks Eighteen Lohan Hands to improve their health so that they could better cultivate to attain Enlightenment." - Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit

          Dear Shaolin Wahnam Family,

Please find below another beautiful and inspiring answer from Sifu:

"We are living in a golden age. Many people may be surprised at this statement. They think the golden age was a few hundred years ago. No, a few hundred years ago you didn't even have electricity or tap water, things that we take for granted now but forget how important they are in making life comfortable. A few hundred years ago most people did not have a chance to go to school. Now you can assess amazing information via the internet at the tips of your fingers!" - Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit

            Dear Shaolin Wahnam Family,

Please find below another inspiring and wonderful quote from Sifu:

"Being a husband and father is one of the most wonderful things that can happen to a man. So treasure your blessing. With the blessing comes responsibility. The most basic responsibility of a good husband and father is to provide for your family to the best of your ability. Provisions involve not just physical wants and comfort, like decent food and housing, but more importantly spiritual needs, like loving care and spending time with them rewardingly.

Providing for their spiritual needs does not need money, but it needs time and effort. If one really treasures his wife and child, he can readily find the time and effort, irrespective of how busy he may imagine himself to be or even really is.

If you treat your wife not as someone who happens to marry you, but someone who is going to spend the best part of her life for your welfare, which is actually the case, and treat your son not just as an incidental outcome of some pleasure, but as a living manifestation of your love and joy, which is also actually the case, you will find spending time with them not a responsibility but a special privilege.

Marriage is sacred. Personally I believe a man should have one and only one wife. You have chosen your wife. So you just have to make sure your marriage can only be successful. You have no other choice, and there is no looking back. Be generous in your attitude. Assume the position that you, and not your wife, are the one to take the initiative to ensure a successful, happy marriage. When you have set the right initiative, your wife will naturally respond." - Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit

              Dear Shaolin Wahnam Family,

For today, I present you a beautiful quote of Sifu explaining about Cosmic Love:

"Cosmic love is to be distinguished from personal love, and cosmic wisdom from worldly wisdom. If I go hungry so that my child could eat, it is a manifestation of personal love. Personal love is instinctive; every mother knows this very well. If a mother gives away her child's food, even though her child is hungry, to a stranger who needs the food more urgently, it is a manifestation of cosmic love. Cosmic love is usually not instinctive; it has to be acquired through cultivation." - Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit

Please find below another wonderful quote from Sifu:

"The main purpose of learning Shaolin Kungfu is to have a complete programme of personal development from the most basic to the most advanced levels. At the physical level, Shaolin Kungfu provides health, fitness, agility and vitality, besides the ability to defend ourselves. At the emotional level, Shaolin Kungfu gives us joy and tranquillity. Shaolin Kungfu trains us to be mentally focused, and enables us to expand our mind. At its highest level, Shaolin Kungfu leads to spiritual fulfillment, irrespective of religion. Obviously, Shaolin Kungfu is not just a fighting art." - Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit

                  Dear Shaolin Wahnam Family,

Please find below another beautiful and inspiring quote from Sifu:

"One, be kind and filial to your parents, even if they seem unreasonable at times. You and other young people may find it hard to believe, but having your parents living with you is one of the most blessed things that can ever happened to you.

Two, be kind and helpful to the elderly. For example, you can find some time to talk to them. This is something you can easily do, and which they will much appreciate.

Three, be charitable to others, including strangers. It is a mistake to think that one can be charitable only if he or she is materially rich. Charity starts from the heart, and is expressed in actions. If you can be tolerant to your friends when they irritate you, or help a child in need even if it involves some trouble, you would have been charitable." - Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit

                    Dear Shaolin Wahnam Family,

Please find below another greatly inspiring quote from Sifu:

"The onus of spiritual cultivation is not merely knowledge but direct experience. This is not difficult; you merely manifest avoiding evil and doing good in your daily speech, deed and thought.

Good speech, deed and thought will contribute to good karma; and cultivating good karma is a sure way of spiritual growth. We are what we say, do and think; when our words, deeds and thoughts are noble, we are noble. This is a profound truth, but appears so simple that many people fail to appreciate it and look for complex but futile intellectualization instead." - Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit

                        Dear Shaolin Wahnam Family,

Please find below another inspiring and wonderful quote from Sifu:

"All the Shaolin principles that are used for combat can be applied to our daily living. Here is one that will be helpful to you. “If your opponent exhibits a weakness, exploit his weakness. If he exhibits no weakness, create an advantage for yourself.”

Translated into everyday non-martial application, it reads as follows: “If there exists an opportunity, exploit the opportunity. If there exists no opportunities, create an opportunity for yourself.”

If you use your brain you can create many opportunities. If you use your brawn you can translate the opportunities into practical benefits. It is perfectly legitimate to do good for yourself, but in doing so you must not harm others. And while you progress materially, do not forget your spiritual development.

You do not have to look for higher-paying jobs to improve yourself. Why don't you work for yourself? Be your own employer; you will certainly earn more money working for yourself than working for others." - Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit
