Dear Shaolin Wahnam family,
I trust everyone is well and happy. I’ve been away from my practice and this wonderful Shaolin Wahnam family over the last 4-5 years. The main reason was because of family circumstances which required much of my time and energy. I had a short breather after this and then over the last couple of years, I have been busy cutting down large trees in my garden, landscaping the garden, teaching myself how to build a summerhouse, an extension, installing kitchens and other refurbishment work around the house then doing the work myself in the evenings after work and over the weekends with the help of my very generous brother from time to time.
Although I have not practiced the wonderful Shaolin arts or been involved with the Wahnam family over the last 4-5 years, in my heart I have never felt distant from both and have never doubted that I will be practicing the Shaolin arts again some day. It’s too precious not to.
Although I still have much work I want to do around this beautiful old house, it won’t be as intense as before and so I thought about starting my practice again. Having put my body and mind through so much stress, hard physical labour, toxic from building material and a great lack of rest and sleep over the last few years, I now have the opportunity to heal and nourish it with the wonderful Shaolin arts.
Concerned that I may have offended Sigung with the absence from my practice and the Wahnam family, I wrote to Sigung recently to apologise, not knowing what to expect. Sigung warmly welcomed me back which I am very grateful for.
I started practicing Lifting the Sky again over the last couple of days and it feel just as wonderful as ever. I miss being a student in Sigung’s class and intend to attend a regional course with Sigung next year.
I just wanted to re-introduce myself and to explain my absence. I look forward to seeing old and new classmates again at future courses.
Wishing every much health and happiness
Martin
