    Hint explanations #1

Ok, time to explain our competition hints!

There were 14 hints altogether; one for Zen, three for Chi Kung, and ten for Kungfu.

To keep things exciting, we'll be posting them in parts.

    Here's the first three!

    Hint #1
    Answer: Meditation in Shaolin Zen

In keeping with the spirit of Zen, we decided to post only one "hint" which actually shows the exact course content.

This picture depicts Bodhidharma and Hui Neng, the first and second Zen patriarchs respectively.
After Hui Neng has diligently practiced and mastered neigong, he approaches his teacher Bodhidharma and asks to teach him the way, while Bodhidharma is seated in meditation.

    Hint #2
    Answer: The Shaolin Monkey Set

This picture is of Sigung Ho Fatt Nam in his younger days. The staff is the famous weapon of the Monkey King, and the monkey set was also Sigung Ho's speciality.

    Hint #3
Answer: Breathing Methods in Shaolin Chi Kung

    "
    Hearing but worn toes
    inhale
    touch the king far
    "

The above poem is an anagram of the following sentence:

"Learn how to use breathing in the art of chi kung"

      Dear Shaolin Wahnam Family,
      Dear Shaolin Wahnam Nordic Team
      Dear Jury,

thank you all for making this thread possible. It was a lot of fun to read the other suggestions and to think about the own one.
Hopefully there will be antother quiz for other courses. It is now also very interesting to read about the resolution of each hint.
Congratulation to the other two winners.

      With shaolin salute,
      Dimitri.
When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.
When the student is truly ready, the teacher will disappear.

Thanks Mark! Would be great to have you, Gregg and/or John again over here in Finland

Here we go, batch number two:

          Hint #4
          Answer: The Shaolin Flower Set

Venerable Ng Mui portrayed by actress Kara Hui in the film Kung Fu Wing Chun (2010)
Ng Mui was probably the best fighter of her time, and her speciality was the Flower Set - which later developed into Wing Choon kungfu.

          Hint #5
          Answer: Xingyiquan

San Ti Shi or the Three-Body Stance is the primary force training method in genuine, traditional Xingyiquan.

          Hint #6
          Answer: The Tiger-Crane

Two pictures from the classic kungfu-film "Executioners from Shaolin". It depicts Chen Kuan-Tai as Hung Hsi-Kuan and Lily Li as Fang Yung-chun, who are masters of the tiger and crane styles respectively. The two enter marriage, but before their union can be consummated Hsi-Kuan must pass Yung-Chun's kungfu test.

In other words, the perfect union of tiger and crane

After being excluded from a royal banquet held by gods and immortals, the slighted Monkey King, Sun Wukong, goes forth and steals Xi Wangmu's Peaches of Immortality. "Stealing peaches" is often used when describing the sneaky tactics and techniques in monkey kungfu.

Detail of the famous painting "Nine Dragons" (1244) by Chen Rong, which also displays some of the characteristics of the dragon in kungfu.

                  Congratulations to all the winners!

Thank you Markus Siheng for all the hint explanations they have been very interesting to read.

When the courses were announced for winter camp 2018 my mouth dropped in awe! The winter camp really will be training with the Past Masters! I am particularly excited that Sifu will be teaching Venerable Ng Mui's Flower set and 72 Tiger Crane. Thank you Sifu for teaching these treasures and for another wonderful opportunity to apply 'heart thinks events materialize' and with practice I hope to be joining these legendary courses in January.

                  With Love & Blessings,
                  Parveen
“So I say to you –
This is how to contemplate our conditioned existence in this fleeting world:”

                  “Like a tiny drop of dew, or a bubble floating in a stream;
Like a flash of lightning in a summer cloud,
Or a flickering lamp, an illusion, a phantom, or a dream.”

“So is all conditioned existence to be seen.”

                  Thus spoke Buddha.
