Hello everyone,
I've been trying to figure out how to post this over the past few days and have been in touch with Sifu for guidance on this matter. Josh very suddenly developed a cancerous tumor in his neck which (and I saw this with my own eyes) literally appeared overnight. He is in the care of the Mayo Clinic, with some of the finest surgeons in the world looking out for him. Tomorrow morning, very early, he will go into a long surgery which will last all day to remove the tumor. He will be following a Western course of treatment to get rid of this nasty bugger and relying on his training to help restore him to health. Josh is one of my oldest and dearest friends. He led me to Shaolin Wahnam. Suffice it to say, this has rattled me. I understand how this information might also rattle some of you who read this and don't understand how something like this could happen to someone who practices our arts.
This was really hard for Josh to hear too, especially after years of training. It is always important to remember that there are things in life that happen that are completely beyond our control and sometimes, for better or for worse, things like this happen. When Josh told me how disappointed he was that this tumor was cancerous, I pointed out to him that it had nothing to do with his skill level or anything like that, and for all he knew, if he hadn't been practicing these arts all this time, he may already have been dead. We just don't know.
What I do know is that these arts are going to lead him to a swift recovery, as I have seen them perform miracles in front of my very eyes, I continue to trust in their efficacy, and the extraordinary benefits they bring to us. I'm sure everybody who reads this can attest to that in some way or another.
Josh has the support here of his loved ones, his family, his friends, his students, and a huge community of people who love him dearly. We will see to his needs on his road to recovery. In the next few days, we'll be getting a go fund me campaign together for him. I'll post more information on that once we have it up and running (we've all had our hands pretty full here). In the meantime, I'm asking from the bottom of my heart for the thoughts, love, prayers, and good energy of his Wahnam family as he goes into this surgery and along his road to recovery. You all mean the world to him, and to me. Thank you.
Warmly,
Molly
