    Metacritic: Critical Aggregator

Speaking of the best, I have come to rely on critics' reviews of things like movies, TV, music, books, in order to save time in my search for the best in whatever medium.

A site that is very useful in this regard is Metacritic (link) which is a site that compiles a number of reviews giving an overall average score. Very handy, and a far cry from looking about randomly, or even taking a single critic's word, so it is easy to find the best of the best in many different areas.

Here's a shot of the aggregate review for House of Flying Daggers, a great kungfu flick.

    Screen Shot 2016-01-03 at 6.12.50 PM.jpg

Another great kungfu movie made the Metacritic top ten list of best films of the 2000's. Can anyone guess what it is?

    Yrs.

      As a Discussion Question

How do You find the best on the internet?

I sometimes get the feeling I am finding the average. So I am sincere in my desire for your suggestions.

      Still,

        Imdb

It was mentioned recently in another thread, and I'm pretty to sure this will be familiar to many, if not most of you, but is worth mentioning for those who don't know it.

IMDB, or the Internet Movie DataBase, is a great resource for researching films. I started using it when I needed to find out if a particular film was suitable for showing in school. I go to it when I just have to find out what other film I know that actor from. I go there to find other movies by a favourite director.

Here, for example, is a link to the great kungfu movie, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. While looking it up, I discovered that there is going to be a sequel coming out this year. See? Good resource.

          Chromatik.com

          Dear Shaolin Wahnam Family,

I haven't used it for a long time but I remember that I enjoyed it a lot in the past. It is basically a database with music sheets and a very nice user experience. So, if you play music and don't know Chromatik.com yet, you might want to have a look. :-)

With Love, Care and Shaolin Salute,

                    Dear Shaolin Wahnam Family,

Charles Siheng, that reminds me of the Internet Archive which is a non-profit library of millions of free books, movies, software, music, and more. I am sure that you know about it. :-)

It is amazing how big it is!

One of my favorite places in this Web Site is the Way Back Machine where you can check how almost any website in the world evolved since its creation.

For example, you can check how The New York Times used to look back in 1999:

The New York Times - 1999.jpg

And compare it with how it looks now. It is amazing the progress that Internet has had since then:

Ah, you give me too much credit. I started this thread because I know very little and want to learn more!

Thanks for posting these. I will check them out soon.

Just had one of my correspondents bring this to my attention: "Handpainted Kungfu Movie Posters in Ghana"
