  • Aloha from Switzerland

    Aloha from Switzerland,
to the Wahnam Family and Friends on the board,
or 'Hoi' as the Swiss would say...
My name is Michael Schmidt ('Smith') if you call this a name,
and as I'm new 'here' i'd like to shortly introduce myself.
I'm german, however living in Switzerland for 4 years now, at a lake surrounded by mountains and at the moment outside the window there's a steam-boat starting to make it's way to the other end of the lake - it's sunday...for work I'm normally going to Zurich, which is 80 km away, and in Zurich there's also the shaolin wahnam school I'm going to (there are two schools).
Started Tai Chi Chuan for the first time without any prior experience in martial arts around 3.5 years ago with my Sifu Andrea Zilio for some month, but back then I was living in Zurich and when I moved away also stopped attending classes. But back then sort of did not get it the way as this time. So after 2 years started Hung Gar, but with every respect after some months felt this was not the school I'd like to spent years with. One funny thing there was: in every class the Horse Riding Stance was trained and everybody supposed to stand it a certain time, this in a say friendly-military-sportive-atmosphere, when I had overcome my internal drama with it, I realised, that most of the studends seemed to internally sort of worry whether they'll make it through; there I remembered my Sifu (here), cause she went always in a relaxed state and said "enjoy.." - so I sort of plugged myself out there a bit from the gross emotion and said to myself then 'enjoy, relax' and it went better and easier...until I called it a day there. Then started Wing Chun instead, with a quite more relaxed atmosphere, but again, with every respect was not what I was looking for. Then after 6 months doing nothing likewise started Northern Praying Mantis and this was my preferred choice of this interlude time for some reasons. But now went to the two Chi Gung course weekends here in Switzerland of my now Sitaigung and it does probably not surprise you, that this was a complete different level, or even better a different paradigm or world. So, found out, that I was already "at the right place" in the first place and are back for Chi Gung and Tai Chi Chuan classes with my Sifu Andrea Zilio in Zurich, and also practising daily on my own. "Ripeness is all" as Shakespeare wrote in King Lear...
Much love to you all, best regards, Michael
