    Tribute to Sifu,

I am sure you will all agree that Sifu's generosity and kindness to us over the years is unmeasurable. The positive effect that he has had on our lives has been for me way beyond anything I could have imagined. I expect this is the same for many of you.

I am sure that I am speaking for many of the Shaolin Wahnam family when I say we are eternally grateful to be part of this family and learn the arts with an open heart and mind, benefiting from an enriched experience of life as a result.

Sifu generously continues to give and we gratefully receive. But how do we give back? How do we repay such kindness? How do we make Sifu proud?

Sifu is often asked 'how can I repay you', the answer is usually "Train"!

At the 2013 Summercamp in the UK (July) we will be holding a 'Tribute to Sifu'. The tribute will be in a format of a show. A show of the many skills we have learnt from Sifu's teachings. A living embodiment of the Shaolin Arts if you like.

This tribute is an open invite to everyone in the Shaolin family. We would love for you all to come and be part of this, but we realise that not everyone will be able to attend, even if they would like to pay tribute. This is ok, because you can still contribute to the show from afar. The tribute will be part live demonstrations and part video. If you would like to be there in spirit, but the body can't make it, then send me a video, picture, poem or something. It all counts!

In touching our hearts with the arts we invite you to demonstrate what is from your heart. The choices are almost endless, so I don't want to put ideas into your heads.

Let me know, by a PM or email shaolinwahnamtim@hotmail.com (subject, Tribute to Sifu) with whatever ideas you have on how you would demonstrate your appreciation in a format as part of the show. You can also contribute your time to the event, by filming, lighting, organising etc. Naturally you would be encouraged to do this in a Shaolin Wahnam way.

During this summer I was awe inspired by the Olympics and paralympics. The athletes determination and demonstration of skills, the opening and closing ceremonies, the organising, the tears, the laughter. It opened the heart of the nation and brought many together in mutual understanding and appreciation. It reminded me of our family and now we have an opportunity to demonstrate our appreciation and the skills we have learnt.

Naturally we would love you to come to the Summercamp as well, if you can make it. But if you can't then please consider being part of this very special 'tribute to Sifu'.

We would like to keep the contents of the show a surprise for Sifu, so by all means discuss here if you would like to be part of it, you can even throw a few ideas around, but email me direct with the details of what you have in mind so it stays a surprise.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Have fun in imagining and practicing what you will do.

Dear family, it's been a number of weeks since we announced the 'Tribute to Sifu' that we are organising for the UK Summercamp during the week of the 13th-20th July 2013.

I am sure that many of you are intending to do something on the day to demonstrate your appreciation to Sifu and the Shaolin arts, however so far I have received a disappointing response.

Just incase you missed it, you do not need to be physically present to be there. We intend to organise a video wall for those that can't make it the summercamp.

Naturally we would love to see you there, but understand if it is difficult.

What we would like to see is a demonstration of what you have learnt, or an example of how you have translated this into everyday life.

I think it is fair to say that we have all been touched by the teachings and that for many of us it has literally changed our life. Well lets show it!

If you intend to be part of it then please email shaolinwahnamtim@hotmail.com

If you can't make it or are not sure what to then still email, I can help guide you.

This is a real opportunity to show Sifu that we are a living example of the arts, that the arts are in safe hands and that we understand the teachings. DON'T LET IT PASS YOU AND SIFU BY...

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Kind wishes

    Tim

      Dear Family,

Following my recent visit to Malaysia I am pleased that Sifu/Sigung is completely behind the 'Tribute to Sifu (& Past Masters) and has already made a number of suggestions of special feats, such as putting out a candle behind glass and sounding a gong across space.

I have today emailed Sigung to ask for information on the specialisation and signature sets of our lineage. What I would like to see is for various family members to represent each of these specialisations or sets. It certainly gives us something to aim for.

If it is possible it would be great to open the show with a lion dance. I already have the lion dance equipment so can provide everything you need. What I need is for one of the countries to step up to this request. In Malaysia I met with Miguel and asked if Portugal would volunteer as I remember them having an excellent lion dance team. If Portugal is reading this please let me know if this is possible. It would certainly be great to have you on this special occasion.

Following the Lion Dance I am looking to represent the:
      18 Lohans
      One finger Zen set
      stances
8 basic patterns of attack and defence
Tai Chi Chuan attack and defence
      Combat sequences
      Progressive sets through the lineage
      Weapons display
      Sparring display
      Special internal force display

With so much taught over the years it would be a real challenge to show everything, so I am aiming to catch the essence. just so you know the show is to be filmed.

I am also requesting that all participants let me have a draft video of what they intend to do by the end of March. This will help us work out the timings of the show and placement of the various people involved.

We also need help with staging and running the event from people experienced in such matters. This is the first time I have organised anything like this so would very much welcome any help you can give.

Thank you for your ideas and support, keep them coming in. This will be a great show.
