  • (LAST?) Can you find the mistakes (Green Dragon Shoots Pearl)?

    Dear Shaolin Wahnam family,

Round 10 comes with a popular pattern of Tai Chi Chuan and Shaolin Kung Fu.

Depending on the response created, I will decided whether to continue this series.

    Have fun!

    Best wishes,

    Leo

Another great Video lesson, Leo. I am enjoying this series immensely and would welcome your continuation a lot. Just a shame that so few seem to want to join in. I wonder why that is?

      Dear Leo!

The series is great! Thank you very much for your effort!

I see that there is too much bending forward in the pattern.

      With kind regards,

        Dear Sisookgung,

I also enjoy your video series very much. Thank you for another wonderful opportunity of learning!

My impression is that the feet are not in line as they should be in bow and arrow stance.

        All the best,
        Steffen

          Dear Sifu Leo,

I too enjoy the video series a lot. It takes courage, dedication, and effort along with a dash of creativity to make these videos.

I am curious, do you observe these mistakes being committed by others, or do you come up with them yourself, or both?

            Hi everyone,

Thanks for your kind words. I'd be happy, if the series would get some more attention that would justify the time and effort spent for producing the clips.

Some of the mistakes have been mentioned by Sifu during courses or in his literature. Besides those, I have seen many more frequent mistakes while teaching myself.

So, each video is a compilation of mistakes experienced in real-life.

            Best wishes,

              Hey Sifu o\

For me are the videos the best way to learn @home.
It is a pitty that the people don´t use this chance to learn wtih this series.
You know my opinion of your videos i love your clips :-) I dont know any anthor Kung Fu practitioner that makes so detailed videos.

              My Anwser to this clip:

The Back foot is not 45 degrees.

Hips are not aligned to the front. (the movement is break)

Both arms are not circeling. The countinius spiral movemant is missing.

              All the best o\

                Dear Sifu Leo,

Thank you for the answers. I'm sure the video series will benefit students both now and in the future as the mistakes you make in the videos come from direct experience.

                  Dear Sifu Leo,

If I may ask, at the conclusion of the pattern, where should be the right hand be?

                      Dear Siheng,

Another common name for the pattern is "Brush Knee". As shown in the solution video, the right hand should be placed near the front knee.

The "brushing" is most often used to tame the opponents arms before striking, but one could also brush away the opponents knee to de-stabilze him.

                      Best wishes,

Hi, Leo. I know things are a little slow on the forum, so it may seems like you are making a lot of effort for little return; but these videos really are wonderful, and they will have a long life and provide a valuable resource for students. I didn't watch the solution video, but the most obvious error is the lack of cover with the leading hand. That hand patter is one of my favourites, as it just feels so powerful!

                        Cheers from Borneo!

Indeed, echoing Papa Chas I believe that there are many people who log in daily but are perhaps shy to post, but they still benefit a lot from your videos. Plus, your videos are saved here for posterity so that future students, whether one, two, or ten years from now, will glean much insight from them. I hope you continue posting more videos, they're fun to watch

Leo, these videos are great. Keep it up. One of the things I find that is effective for getting people's attention is simply persistence over time. Make and post videos regularly and gradually people will pay more attention to them. My boss was telling me that half of my success as an acupuncturist is just continuing to show up, all the time. So keep them coming!
