Read a fascinating article today about Master Li Ching Yuen, a famed herbalist who was rumoured to have lived for 256 years!!!
The secret of his success:
The article was based on his obituraty printed in both Time and the New York Times in 1933:

He himself admitted to having lived for a modest 197 years only! Both of these figures are of course much larger than the scientifically accepted 122 years for a woman who died recently in France.
The original articles mentioned only that he was a herbalist, but that:
This got me thinking; Taoist Qi Gong?
...and on further search I found the following link:

Which confirms that he was a fabled master of internal work. Notice how the western sources only conceive of longevity secrets in terms of physical supplements; "herbs"...missing the point entirely.
I dont necessarily "believe" in either quoted age, however it's fascinating to wonder about how far the human body could go on functioning if all meridians were full and flowing optimally?

Visually and physically, he appeared to look like a typical 60 year-old.

One of his disciples, the Taiji Quan Master Da Liu told of Master Li's story: at 130 years old Master Li encountered an older hermit in the mountains who taught him Baguazhang and a set of Qigong with breathing instructions, movements training coordinated with specific sounds, and dietary recommendations. Da Liu reports that his master said that his longevity "is due to the fact that I performed the exercises every day - regularly, correctly, and with sincerity - for 120 years."
