  • Writing From the Heart

    Dear Shaolin Wahnam Family,

Since some years ago, I like to write from the heart. It is a very interesting process. I usually ask my heart a question and then I write down the answer.

Often, the answers are surprising and they are written in a way that I usually do not write.

I usually write in Spanish as it feels more flowing and natural to me. This answer that I share with you was written in Spanish and later translated into English.

    QUESTION I ASKED MY HEART:

My dear heart, How Should I forgive?

    ANSWER THAT I RECEIVED:

Forgive as if there is no tomorrow.

Forgive as if everything you were to live depended on that forgiveness.

Forgive as if you would want to be forgiven.

Forgive as if the person you forgive is the person you love most in the whole world.

Forgive as if forgiving were the most beautiful act of existence.

Forgive as a mother forgives a child.

Forgive with that unconditional love that mothers know so well.

Forgive as if forgiveness opens the door to the best place you have ever been.

Forgive as if the life on the other side of forgiveness is everything you have ever wanted.

Forgive as if there had never been pain in your soul.

Forgive with the greatest love you have ever felt.

Forgive with the most intense and infinite light that has ever shone.

Forgive until there is nothing left to forgive.

Forgive yourself with all that love so infinite and boundless that it will never be extinguished.

Forgive yourself as if you had never erred.

Forgive yourself so that a new day will begin and you will feel the most extraordinary dawn.

Forgive and forgive and when there is nothing left to forgive, it is then when you can feel all that life and freedom that unconditional forgiveness produces.

Forgive as nature forgives the wind when it breaks a tree.

Forgive as nature forgives a river when it floods a valley.

Forgive as nature forgives lightning when it hits a tree.

Forgive as nature forgives the moon when it leaves the night in darkness.

Forgive as the birds forgive a hard and cold night.

Forgive as the flowers forgive when they give their scent in the spring after the hard and long winter.

Forgive and forgive and never tire of forgiving for it is that forgiveness that frees the soul from the great weight it carries on its shoulders day and night.

Forgive and free your soul from that weight in order to make the journey lighter.

Forgive to be able to float among the clouds and fly through the limitless sky.

Forgive as if you love yourself with an unconditional and eternal love.

Forgive as if behind that forgiveness was the most infinite peace you have ever known and dreamed of.

          Dear Shaolin Wahnam Family,

The writing below was being written while I was at Starbucks Coffee in Salamanca.

I remember as if it was yesterday. I was watching a video of the beloved Indian Saint Anandamayi Ma. That video was also playing some music with a mantra. I share the video here in case some of you would like to enjoy it:

I am not sure what that video awoke in me. I remember that the Starbucks Coffee felt as if it was being filled with more and more light and then I started feeling more and more love in my heart. I then felt connected to all the people inside the Starbucks and then connected to all. This experience was quite expontaneous. It just happened by itself.

As I had the computer with me, I wanted to write down the experience while I still had that feeling in my heart. I told my heart to write for me the experience. The writing was in Spanish but I translated into English so I could share it with you.

I called this writing: The Cosmic Love that is Born in Me

I have so much love inside me that I can no longer contain it. Like a torrent of water pushing at a water dam in order to be a river that wants to go to the ocean my whole being pushes outward to manifest a love as indescribable as life itself.

This love is so great that it surpasses me. It is a love so extraordinary that I cannot reach to see its power. I feel rivers of love flowing in my whole being struggling to come out, to manifest, to be.

When I feel this love, I do not know very well how to face it because it is so beyond everything I know that I just am and I simply enjoy it with the most open heart I have.

A dance takes place inside me. A dance of love in which all my cells dance to the sound of that love. It is a dance of cells in love that rejoice in that dance, in that cosmic music that overflows my being and that is born in my heart.

How beautiful is that love when I feel it because everything that was strange becomes mine. All those who were strangers become my brothers and sisters. All that was dark begins to shine with such strength that it blinds me.

That cosmic music. Oh music, play in my heart and make all my cells dance so that they rejoice full of life and love. Oh great love, flow from my heart to permeate the whole world and touch it with all your being.

How beautiful is that feeling of being and not being, of being united with all that I know and do not know. How beautiful it is to feel that we are all one big family united by the cosmic force of love. How beautiful it is to vibrate to the sound of that love and to spread it throughout the world as a king spreads gold among his people.

Oh my dear heart, dance to the sound of cosmic music and let us dance together until dawn. Oh my dear cells, let us dance till dawn to this celestial music that permeates our senses. Let us feel together the strength of all that is, of all love connected through the threads of the Universe. Let us all dance together to the sound of that cosmic love.

What a great love when one feels it. All cells are overwhelmed by such ecstasy that they can do nothing but simply be and embrace that love.

How beautiful it is to see all my cells dancing, smiling and singing to the sound of Your cosmic music. Let us all dance together forever. Let us dance for all eternity. Let us dance with that all-pervading love.

O my Lord, I open myself to You. Flow in me so that I may spread Your love in the world. Let me be Your hands so that I may serve You and proclaim Your work. Give me Your strength so that I may tell the world about You, so that they may be saved from the suffering they harbor in their lives.

This love pushes me. It wants to come out and I want it to come out. O my Lord, tell me what to do so that I may begin. Guide my steps so that I do not get lost. Light my path with the flame of Your love so that I may always embrace life and spread love to all that my life touches.

Oh my Lord, how beautiful it is when I feel Your love, when You share it with me, when You give me these precious moments that fill me with hope.

Thank You for sharing with me these beautiful gifts that guide my life, that make me see the greatness that I had forgotten. Thank You for being so generous with me and filling me with life. Thank You for all your protection and guidance. It is with this protection and guidance that I have not perished in the face of all the adversities I have gone through in life.

                Dear Shaolin Wahnam Family,

One day, I wanted to write a gratitude letter to my father and I asked my heart to write it for me. The letter was in Spanish but I have translated it here for you.

It often surprises me, when I ask my heart to write for me, the enormous difference that it makes in the writing that manifests. It is a big lesson that often humbles me. Asking my heart to lead me in everything that I do.

                Dear Father,

We do not always find our way to the light although the light is always calling us. Like a lighthouse shining brightly on the seashore, it calls the sailors of the high seas so that they may always arrive safe and sound at their destination.

There are many things for which I am grateful to you. The first is, of course, that you brought me to life for without you I would not have manifested in this form.

Life is the greatest gift of all that you have given me. The second greatest gift you have given me is bringing me to Sifu. There was a time when I did not understand the magnitude of that kinddest act but now I understand and appreciate it more than ever.

Walking and progressing in this life is not easy if one does not go hand in hand with a master. It took me a long time to understand this. In this life, there is so much noise that it is very easy to get distracted and lost. Being guided by a master makes it so that in this life I will not get lost again.

It is not always easy to glimpse the magnitude of our actions for sometimes they are like the echo of the mountain spreading out into the vastness in its many different forms.

You have always offered me the opportunity to learn great lessons and for that, I am eternally grateful. All the trips I have been able to take in this life have saved my life in ways beyond my understanding.

Those journeys have opened many doors. Those doors have offered me insight into life and have also allowed me to have a great capacity to grow in adversity and to learn from different cultures, races and religions.

Each place offers me gifts of high value and shows me that when one has an open heart the gifts of existence always come to life.

There are so many beautiful things in this life. Many times we forget to enjoy them because of all the noise that is going on in the world.

Often, it is the simplest things that delight our senses. The sound of a stream, the whisper of the wind passing through the overgrown wheat on a summer night, the smell of the sunset on a hot day, the presence of the stars on a moonless night or the birds singing in the dawn.

It has taken me a long time to understand that a grateful heart is the door to the magic of life because it awakens all those miracles that are always available to us.

Many times, it is difficult for us to say in words and publicly manifest all the things for which we feel grateful. This, undoubtedly, is one of the greatest losses that occur in the world. When we say thank you openly there is a ripple effect that spreads to everyone we touch.

In our travels, whenever I saw all those monks praying and thanking existence, I couldn't understand why they spent so much time giving thanks. Now I understand. Gratitude is the key to happiness.

Seeing all those people in my travels who were so poor and had such genuine smile changed my life. Especially in Laos. I still remember their smiles and those smiles will remain forever in my heart as it was one of the greatest lessons I have had in this life.

I know that we cannot always reach each other and that sometimes there seems to be a wall between us. That wall is nothing more than a manifestation of our differences. Behind those differences is the great love we have for each other.

We are all different and have different missions in this life. We also belong to different generations with different historical events. Sometimes it is not easy for different generations to understand each other. This is sometimes due to that generation gap.

It is gratitude that has taught me to overcome that barrier, that wall that sometimes seems insurmountable. When we are able to see all the good that the people in our life offer us, a door opens to the light, to the magic of life. And that light, that magic, permeates everything it touches and leaves a sweet perfume that fills us with peace and satisfaction.

It has always brought me great happiness to travel with you and they are memories that I treasure in my heart because they are many of the best moments in my life.

Thank you for everything you have always given me, continue to give me and will continue to give me.

With Love, Care and Shaolin Salute,

                Santi
