    Meridians are "mai" in Chinese. There are two kinds of meridians. The primary ones are called "jing" or channels. The secondary branches are called "luo" or collaterals.

    However, the term meridian is often used when talking about channels. Even Sifu adheres to this common usage in his books. Technically, a channel is a type of meridian, but in common usage, they are the same.

    Mai: meridian, vein, artery, pulse.
    Jing: channel (primary meridian).
    Luo: collateral (secondary meridian).
