  • Chinese thread?

If I write in Chinese, will anyone join me?

Any idea if I can cut and paste from my Chinese software into the forum?

I'm sure one or two will join in ... for the rest of us it will make no difference what/how you write as we won't understand you anyway

I will need to find the ape first...

Hmm, seems my cut and paste Chinese characters cannot appear properly.

Let me try in Hanyu Pinyin and see if anyone understands me.

        <<Jiuyang Zhenjing>> ji4 shi4 Shaolin zhi4gao4 wu3xue2, ye3 you3 Daojia se4cai3. <<Jiuyang>> yu3 <<Jiuyin>> xiang1fu3xiang1cheng2, yu4 da2 dao4 deng1feng1zao4ji2 jing4jie4, xu1 liang2zhe3 jian1lian4.

Quick translation: Jiuyang shengong is the highest Shaolin art but has Taoist elements. One should be aware of the Jiuyin manual as well which complements Jiuyang. To achieve the highest levels, one must practice both.

(This is NOT fact - just drivel I dreamt up from the books Forgula is obviously familiar with. I am just testing out the thread).

Can anyone read the pinyin at all?

Yeah I could read that alright. A little slow because my brain is not used to parsing pinyin. Hurrah for wu3xia2 xiao3shuo1

            Hello everyone.

            Zhang Wuji,

I would like to join in. I try to type the following chinese characters, please tell me if you can't see it.

            大家好。
            Zhang Wuji (張無忌?),我明白您寫的拼音,不過有點慢。

              Hello Julie,

I can read your chinese character. I have configure my internet explorer to do so. Unfortunately I have no Chinese software installed in my computer and I just can't post them so I will just sit and enjoy the discussion in Chinese.

                Ideo-/picto-grams and the internet

Just in passing on this topic I have always wondered whether the internet will gradually erode ideogramatic languages or facilitate them (as computer more powerful than typewriter etc).

I guess as well as the Chinese options above Japanese is a good case as in Japanese one can spell things out using Japanese alphabet.

Anyway ones talking about subtle effects over decades here and not doubt too early to tell (other than the internet is furthering english as the 'lingua franca' for us all).

                Anyone have any thoughts/insights?

                Mike

HI! How did you do that??? I use Chinese on MS Word together with Twinbridge, but it didn't work here. Let me in on the secret, please!

Yes, my name is as you have written.

                          大家好。

                          無忌,您好。我用的軟件是中文之星(Chinese Star),不必用MS Word來cut and paste,可以直接打字,方便之極。

                          qingui, 您好。市場上有很多中文軟件任您選擇,您一定能找到適合的。

                            Windows IME

                            各位好,

不知是否都用windows。 我感觉 Microsoft IME(Input Method Editor) 最好用。 去Control Panel/Regional and Language Settings 就可以安装。 Linux 的朋友我可帮不上了。:)

                              Hello Yixin,

I have configured the system to read Chinese characters but I am not sure how to go about keying in the Chinese characters. I hope you can enlightened me on this. I can read and write in both simplified and traditional Chinese by the way.
