  • Chi kung healing and schizophrenia

    Hi

I just heard about a sad thing. I have a good friend. She has a good friend who's husband has been just diagnosed with the disease. He has terrible thoughts and does terrible things, even violent towards himself. They are a young couple with two children. Is it possible for such a person to practice chi kung and would it help? Or would other chi healing help?

    Thank You for any suggestions

    Marek

        My experience

I thought I might put a little here about my experience of schizophrenia and Shaolin Chi Kung. After having suffered from April of 1999, I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in 2002.

To cut a very long story short, and to give hope to those suffering with the same 'illness', I have been practicing Shaolin Chi Kung every day with healing sessions from Fleur Sije for roughly 9 months, and I have made substantial, life-changing improvements. Prior to practising I had a pretty miserable time, suffered with bouts of severe depression accompanied by overdoses, self harming and several hospital admissions. I had debilitating social anxiety, and was not able to integrate with society in a meaningful way. I generally spent a lot of time in bed, fighting my thoughts and emotions.

This is all now in the past . I have moved out of supported accommodation into my own home, am brimming with confidence, have applied for part time work and travel to London on the train every week to learn more about these amazing arts from Fleur Sije. I live a far happier life now, characterized by a joyful calmness rather than oppressive negativity, have discharged myself from all support networks and am currently working on eliminating the last remnants of paranoia. I am optimistic!

I am forever grateful to Fleur and of course Sifu, for allowing me to clear these blockages. To say that I feel privileged is somewhat of an understatement.

                impressed

Thank you Paul for sharing your experience and also for sharing it openly.

I was very impressed by your story, especially about the part of the social isolation and your progress.
I worked for five years for an alternative clinic in Munich that dealed with psychiatric patients and the methods they applied were completely revolutionary at that time, i.e. no chemicals, no isolation, a lot of trust and a maximum freedom. This clinic suffered a lot of negative feedback from the mass media and also from the other medical institutions, in spite of the fact that their long lasting healing results were much higher than the average. I did a lot of studies at that time that showed, how patients health is really seriously damaged by psychopharmaca and these damages are truly long lasting so that the first positive effect does not justify the end result at all.

We did not use Chi Kung as such, but other soft movement techniques and a complex of other measures, most based on group interactions. During this time I was surprised how little difference there really is between the so called "normal" people and the people who are diagnosed with psychological disorders, e.g. schizophrenia, narcissism, psychosis, etc.
Especially schizophrenia, so it seems, is diagnosed whenever the doctors do not know what to say else, because there is so many different symptoms that are all put in the same basket.

Luckily, when I realized the essence of Chi Kung (see also the link kindly provided by Andrew) I realized that it is really just a blockage in chi flow, how simple and how effective. I am sorry that I did not know anything about chi Kung before; otherwise I could have helped many people (including myself a lot earlier.
So, I would like to say once again, how grateful am I to having met Sifu and to having learned these wonderful arts from him.
                Good luck to you..
