If you want to soar to the heights and reach the depths of Kung Fu, you must practice Chi Kung; if you want to soar to the heights and reach the depths of Chi Kung, you must practice meditation.

Thank you very much for your advice. Now i know that I am doing the right thing.
I would like to add that I wasn't doubting whether it worked or not,I only had reservations on whether I was doing it right...

to my opinion doing ist most naturally is the best way. I do not see any difference between people living here or there: it is only a "door" between the two worlds. Therefore, to me it is the same than thinking of an earth living person far away. If I want this person to be guided after his death (e.g. because he was severely ill, or did not believe in life after death, or was very lonely the time before he died) I ask his guide (or angels or Virgin Maria, depending on his religion) to help him, or I concentrate on his deceased parents, partner, friend to be with him.
You might lit a candle for him - visualising the flame light to flow to him to accompany him. You might sing a song to him, or play the music he liked. You may read a suitable sentence out of a book.
If you do not mean a special person but all people who have left earth: you may lit a candle, just think of them - or meditate on, e.g., "what death means" - and send them all their personal spiritual helpers.
I think the best thing is being most natural with this.
But, to my opinion, it is also important not to overdo it. Overdoing means sending so much energy to the Otherworld, that this energy lacks in your earth life. On the other side it means that this energy connects the departed too much to their old earth life, being distracted from letting it go. And letting go their former earth life is the most important step to free themselves.
Since all this depends much on personal belief and feelings I might repeat that this is only my personal opinion.

I really appreciate your profound advice and the advice of Sifu Barnett. Both of you told me beautiful and inspiring things. I will remember them both in doing my best to give the departed blessings.
Confermezza, your views are beautiful,I do believe in giving help to people, alive or otherwise, so your advice touched me.
Sifu Barnett,my heart is always in giving the blessings, so our advice was an excellent reinforcement. I thank you both extremely for helping me.
I believe that part of my responsibilities in practicing Chi Kung (albeit not as advanced as the both of you) is to send blessings. And if and when I get the chance,I give blessings to the departed.
Thank you both very much.

Blessing the departed and the present is wonderful, despite the intention of "giving away" it turns out blessing other beings is also blessing yourself.
I am unable to heal anyone because I was not taught that skill, but giving blessings,to me, is the next best thing I can do for anyone, which is why I do it.It's equal to praying for them.(Before practicing Qigong,I used to pray. A lot.)
I understood the concept of gaining blessings...but I generally think of gaining blessings as when the person I wished to receive blessings actually receive them. It is a wonderful feeling. Passing blessings to the departed is "trickier" because I don't "know" if they received their blessings, but it is a hope. I thank you for your encouragement.
And to Confermezza,I will heed your warnings about sending too much energy to them and I will hope that the departed will receive blessings and be guided properly to heaven, nirvana, the infinite ultimate or anywhere positive energy is.
Everyone has been so supportive and inspiring. I am really happy and am very thankful to everyone.
