Since one week back from the Shaolin Retreat at Zen monastery. I got quite a lot of positive feedback. First time so many nations (6) where attending from our International Wahnam school. I am happy to choose the right topics to intrigue so many. The schedule was tight from morning 4am till evening 9pm. But all family members where smiling the hole day. Chan, Qi Gong, Neigong, Neidan, Taijiquan and lectures about where making the day fruitful for all.

The Abbot played for us two times his bamboo flute and explained that Zen can be find in any art.

The date for next year is fixed already and first units have already signed up to be shure to catch one of the limited spaces.

According to Wikipedia, the fourth Zen Patriarch was "Venerable Daoxin"(道信). He also had a posthumous name “Dayi” (Great Healer) honored by the emperor.

Dao Yin .JPG Oh... thank you all for that information. But to compare the writings of Dao Yin we should have the Chinese character for it.

by the way Venerable Dao Yin is also the name of the 4 th Zen Patriarch .

Some history quoted from Sifu's website :

The lineage of Zen transmission is as follows:
    1. Bodhidharma
    2. Hui Ke
    3. Seng Ca
    4. Dao Yin
    5. Hong Jen
    6. Hui Neng.

The first three patriarchs stayed at the Shaolin Temple in Henan Province. The 4th Patriarch, Dao Yin, moved south to the Dongshan Temple in Hubei Province. Hui Neng moved further south to Guangdong Province and taught in nemerous famous temples, but his main base was the Baolin Temple.

From Bodhidharma to Hui Neng, the master designated his successor. Hence, there were designated patriarchs. But Hui Neng did not designate a particular successor. He had thousands of students, 47 of whom were masters. Hui Neng asked them to spread Zen. Hence there were no designated patriarchs after him.

The first three Zen patriarchs used the Lankavatara Sutra as the main text in their teachings. But the 4th Patriarch used the Diamond Sutra because it was already popular in the distrcit where he taught. Both the Lankavatara Sutra and the Diamond Sutra were the direct oral teaching of the Buddha, and later written down in words by great masters. The Platform Sutra was the direct oral teaching of Hui Neng, and writtern down in words by his disciples.
    Thank you Siheng Damian

One part of my teaching at the ZEN retreat will be Dao Yin. This old exercises from ancient China exist already before Qi Gong arise. History, theory and the Dao Yin exercises in standing, sitting and laying positions will be explained and of course practiced. Sometime the Dao Yin called the "Chinese Yoga" because muscles, ligaments, fascia and the joints of the body as well get stretched and opened.
This all we can easily integrate in our Shaolin "art of flexibility".

Only 6 spaces left -> date March 15th
    Wonderful
