    Shaolin Wahnam Summer Camp
    2013

    Introduction

The Shaolin Wahnam Summer Camp is an annual, international event that allows people to learn high-level Shaolin Arts directly from a lineage holder,Shaolin Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit (Sifu Wong). For 2013 it will be held in Guildford, Surrey, UK from 13th July to 20th July inclusive.

The courses this year include Three Treasures of Qigong (Chi Kung). They cover the key skills of Chi Kung from Self-Manifested Chi Movement to Pulsating with the Cosmos – including a course Sifu Wong hasn’t taught for nearly a decade.

The Kung Fu course is XingyiQuan, what Sifu Wong refers to as “Kung Fu for Generals”. Sifu Wong considers this the ultimate art for learning how to implement the element of threat in a safe way. He has also said that anyone learning XingyiQuan at this Summer Camp, even if they never practice the art again, will be able to handle any attack and apply any martial pattern.

This year is a special year. For the first time ever there will be a “Tribute to Sifu and the Past Masters” given by grateful Masters and students from around the world. This will be a demonstration of many of the Shaolin Arts, showing our appreciation that Grandmaster Wong Kiew Kit has succeeded in his aim of keeping genuine Shaolin Arts alive.

Three Treasures of Qigong – 13th to 15th July
The Art of Self-Manifested Chi Movement

The Art of Bone Marrow Cleansing

    The Art of Cosmic Breathing

For this Summer Camp, Sifu Wong has put together a program to help people understand, experience, and progress safely through all stages of cleansing, building and nourishing. The combination of arts being taught can take any practitioner from the most basic stage of clearing illness to the highest levels of spiritual cultivation, based on their needs and objectives. At the end of the three day course you will have all the necessary skills to develop and progress with your Chi Kung and Internal Force Training practice. As part of this set of courses Sifu Wong will be teaching combinations of skills and patterns he has not taught for over a decade

XingyiQuan: Kung Fu for Generals – 16th to 20th July

XingyiQuan is one of the three internal Kung Fu styles known by Kung Fu circles, the others being Taijiquan and Baguazhang. It’s essence is simplicity and internal force. The few patterns of Xingyiquan look simple but are profound enough to handle any attack and “go in” with safety assured.

XingyiQuan trains mental clarity, internal force and combat application in a simple but profound art. The benefits of learning this art at the Summer Camp are to:
    • develop tremendous internal force
    • implement the element of threat in a safe way
    • handle any attack
    • be able to understand and apply any Kung Fu pattern, from any style, regardless of whether you continue to practise Xinyiquan
    • improve free-sparring skills

Sifu Wong will also explain how these benefits can be used in everyday, modern life.

During this course Sifu Wong has promised to transmit the secrets of Three Body Stance Training – sharing the wisdom of Yue Fei, the great Song Dynasty general, sometimes regarded as the God of Martial Art.

Sifu Wong considers this course is essential for any Shaolin Wahnam practitioner who wants to apply their Kung Fu skills with an increased element of threat. This is an important component of winning free-sparring competitions.

In Sifu Wong’s own words – “XinyiQuan is profundity in simplicity … it allows us to make simple things profound”. This course will bring these words alive. XingyiQuan is an art that embodies simplicity, directness and effectiveness.

More information about these courses and the venue, along with details of how to book will follow soon.

The venue is very near Guildford in Surrey, a beautiful English market town, which has fantastic restaurants, bars and nightlife.

The town has existed since at least 978AD, when it was home to an early English Royal Mint. There are lots of historic sites to visit in the area and lots of great shopping. So, if you are thinking of bringing your family there will be plenty of things to do, some wonderful countryside and villages, and a great place to have a holiday/break after the course.

Accommodation - and something to look forward to

We have managed to secure a few rooms on campus at the University. These are mainly single rooms, with washbasins and shared shower facilities. The cost of these rooms is only £30 per night including breakfast. If anyone would like to book them would they get in touch with me as quickly as they can as there are only a few and the University has other programmes wanting to use them.

Also, a treat coming up, Sifu has shared some of his 'aha' moments in his practice of XingyiQuan and asked me to pass them on. I will be posting them over the weekend. We also have some interviews with Sifu where he shared his knowledge of XingyiQuan and some of the history and legends surrounding the art - "Kung Fu for Generals". I will be sharing these as well.

          Low cost accomodation - Urgent

I have just had an email from the University. They have a lot of people wanting the rooms and are only prepared to hold them until next Monday.

If you want accomodation on-site for £30 per night including breakfast you need to confirm and let me know the dates you want to book by Saturday at the latest.

If you know someone who is planning to come to the Summer Camp but doesn't get onto the forum regularly would you pass this on to them.

          Best wishes,

          Barry

Just confirming that the date for the Tribute to Sifu is now set as Saturday 13th July, which is the evening of the Self-Manifested Chi Movement course at the Summer Camp. So, it should be quite a day .

Sifu Mark has managed to find a fantastic venue for the show (see below), which is very close to the Summer Camp venue. I was there tonight seeing a show and went into the part we will be using for the Tribute. It was perfect .

Looking forward to seeing many of you there in July.

                An amazing offer from Sifu

                Dear everyone,

If you would like to perform a force demonstration at the forthcoming Tribute to Sifu show at the Summer Camp, then Sifu has made an amazing offer. Students of Shaolin Wahnam can, in Sifu's words, "write to me and I shall provide them the techniques if they are deserving to know". This is really an amazing opportunity.

                1. Breaking two or three bricks with hard internal force.

                2. Breaking the lower of two bricks.

                3. Breaking the middle of three bricks.

                4. Breaking a huge jar from an inch away with internal force.

                5. Breaking a marble slab from an inch away with internal force.

                6. Extinguishing a candle flame from a distance.

                7. Extinguish a candle flame behind a glass pane.

                8. Sounding a gong or bell from a distance with a fist, palm, finger or staff.
