Having just come back from a brilliant weekend seminar organised by them I figured this was worth a thread
Well the reason I'm writing is because I would like to wholeheartedly reccomend this organisation to anyone who, like me, has no Shaolin Wahnam school in the vicinity or even in the same country and consequently does not often come into contact with spiritually minded people. I enjoy and love my chi kung practice, I do it morning and evening without fail but home practice can get lonely sometimes(for me anyway).
Now before our moderators get a shock because they are thinking that I am trying to convert or steal students from Shaolin Wahnam I must emphasise that this is not the case. I feel that their system does not detract from ours in any way, in fact while at this weekend seminar seeing how dedicated they are to their system has made me vow to work harder at my own. The 'Dada' or monk who is currently in charge of the local branch is actually learning tai chi and has started practicing lifting the sky after I lent him one of Sifu's books. No this is not an attempt at conversion just an attempt to make people benefit by learning from other earnest spiritually minded people.
I shall say something about the organisation and about the activities that were held this weekend. Ananda Marga was founded by Shri Shri Anandamurti (real name Prabhat Rainjan Sarkar and his followers all affectionately call him 'Baba') in India. I shall not go into the history if you wish you can read up on it on their website. The seminar was held in a villa next to a valley with lots of plants and trees (a great chi kung spot actually ). Everyone lived ate and slept under the same roof with one room for the males and another for the females.
Activities included yoga asanas(postures) in the morning, walks in nature, classes on such topics as health and spirituality among others, group kiirtan (singing) followed by meditation with a bit of free time here and there. I should point out that I am a novice in meditation my only experience so far was my short sessions after chi kung where I would use a mantra such as 'Namo Amitabha Buddha'. This seminar has proved to me that I am ready to start learning meditation and luckily Dada is an experienced spiritual teacher so he will teach me and I'm quite happy about that.
Being in a position to compare the 2 days I spent at this seminar to the 2 days I attended the Chi Kung course last year I would say that with Sifu I felt chi for the first time and it was an amazing experience. This weekend was also a profound experience in a different way. At one point during kiirtan I felt a warm spiritual love, that is the best way I can describe it sorry, but it was a nice and surprising feeling.Chi Kung is going to continue to be my core practice and I feel my chi kung is being strengthened by my involvement with Ananda Marga.
Anyway I have said a bit about this organisation, there is also much more to say (image trying to describe everything about Shaolin Wahnam in one post... ) So I would accept any questions and comments from other people and wish everyone the best in their practice. I hope you do not view this as a threat in the way that you might have viewed CFQ to be.
With love and respect
Mike
